Subject: I don't understand my Swim program.

Morning Everyone,

I've been doing my Program and really enjoying the sessions. But I'm not sure of the details of my swim today - Can someone explain to me what on 1:30 means? is that a total rest after the 300?

Also what do the * mean?

Thanks a heap guys. I'll go out for my run now

On means that is when you start each set, so way you are doing 50s on 1:30 then every 1:30 you would start another interval.  If you take 1:00 to do the 50 you would get :30 rest in between.  300 on 1:30 is pretty much impossible though (well, it is in the pool anyway - even for the likes of Michael Phelps).

the * I have no clue unless it is something iek 5*50 and then is woud be  5 by 50 as in 5 reps of 50 metres.  Can you type out what your program says word for word.

This is what is in the OP's planned log:

WU: 400
MS: 300 on 1:30 rest
2 * 150 on :45 rest
4 * 75 on :30 rest
100 loosen (easy
4*100 pull w/ paddles on :30 rest
CD: 200

In this case, the 300 on 1:30 rest means you will swim a 300 then take 1:30 rest.

The next line 2 * 150 on :45 rest means you will do 150 twice with 45 seconds rest in between them.

AH Thankyou so much for getting back to meLaughing Your legends

The 1:30 rest is total rest after I've completed the 300 right?

How is it written when the rest is included in the swim time of the set? (Thats what I thought the "300 on 1:30 rest" was - I just couldn't work out how I was going to complete 300 in 1:30)

If rest is included in the time for the set, it means you get to rest for whatever time you have leftover.  For example, if you are doing 5X100s on the 1:45 and you are coming in on the 1:15, you get 30 seconds rest between 100s.
