Not realy fast in past years. I am not certain, but I think it has stayed open till July/August in past years. This year there will be the new Charlotte race by setup that might take a few of the peeps that have been there and done that at Augusta, so I don't think you have to sign up on Dec 1 by any means.

2012 was end of July if I recall.  2011 was August.  2010 I believe it was August.

I love this race.  I've done it twice in the past three years.

I also think with the Raleigh 70.3 race, some people from this area might be staying close to home for a Ironman 70.3 instead of driving, so I think it will probably stay open longer.

That being said, I LOVED this race!
