100 days until race day! How's everyone's training going?

Thats crazy! I have to admit, I will it was closer. Really looking forward to the this years race season.

So far I have been injury free and only one bout with an ilness. I've spent a ton of time on the trainer in the basement, so my social skills are most likely declining at a very rapid rate.

Yourself?

I am anxious for race season to get started too. The training always takes on a little more focus as race days get closer. I can't wait to get outside on the bike, I am tired of the trainer and sufferfest videos. Supposed to get 4-8 inches of snow today.....hoping not.

Eagleman this year is part of my training for IMLP, which will be my first 140.6. Hired a swim coach this winter and its paying off as I am starting to make gains on the clock. Still not fast, but getting faster.

Bring on some warmer weather.....please!

Anyone else using the BT Beginner 20 week plan for their training? I'm in the intensive swim week right now, and really enjoying it. I think my body is appreciating a break from the pounding of too much running and cycling (although I see next week is run intensive).

Feeling like I need a bit more time in the saddle, but otherwise training is going pretty well. How about you??

Training is going well despite the never ending winter. Biking mileage will improve when things warm up and conditions improve. Swim is improving slooooowwwwly. Running a 15k trail race on the 30th. That will be my first event of 2013.

Doing the Nautica South Beach Miami OLY next weekend. This should give me a good idea where I stand. I know my swim is horrible but it can only improve.

Haven't been running much this winter, trying to get the glute to heal.  Saw a sports medicine doc, MRI showed no stress fracture, just Gluteus Medius Tendonitis.  Gait analysis showed mild Trendelenberg gait, only while running.  But that is probably the source of the tendonitis, so I've got some exercises to do.

I'm up to 5 mile runs without any issues, for the first time since October, so that's good.  Fortunately biking doesn't bother it.

Ready to get outside more for biking!

Ran the Mt. Penn Mudfest 15k yesterday. Thought it would be a good training day and serve for my long run for the week. Great race and the course was really tough. My Garmin showed over 1600 ft of climbing!

Looking forward to the flatness of the Eagleman course!

I ran the Scarsdale 15k yesterday .. Very hilly.. And not just rollers, climbs !
I used that as my long run for the week.
It's working. Did a BRic on sat. 26 bike and 10k run.

Heavy swim day today.

Looking forward to the flatness of the Eagleman course

One more week of hard training and then a well needed recovery week. Overall training is going well, but still cold in New England. Looking forward to riding without leg warmers and a jacket!

Finally a weekend of sunshine, winds below 20mph and temps above 50 degrees! Ran 13.1 yesterday and planning 3+ hours on the bike today. 6 more weeks to go!

Get to it.  You've still got plenty of time to get in a few very solid long rides.

yea I know... I've got a metric century route planned out for this Sunday and I'm toying with the idea of cutting out of work early next week and doing another 50-60 miler.  I won't be perfectly trained, but I'll make it...... Undecided maybe.

I still haven't given up hope yet. I am certainly not where I was hoping to be at this point, but I probably can at least survive.

Since no one has mentioned it yet, the latest water temperature at about 8 this morning is 63.9°F.

This has been a weird year for me so far.  I think I'm about the same or stronger than this time last year, from a bike FTP perspective, but the suspension (ankles and hips) is creaking a lot more.

This time last year I really didn't have any joint issues to speak of, except for some very mild heal pain.  This year it's been one thing after another since the fall, after Marine Corps Marathon.  Achilles, Glute, lower back, etc.

As Indy put it, "It isn't the years, it's the mileage".

Only a week to go! I hope everybody's training has gone well and will be toeing the line fresh and injury free. It's looking like it will be cooler than last year and a pretty good chance for a wetsuit swim again.

Enjoy your tapers!

So, relative to typical Eagleman, you're saying it will be chilly, right?
