Subject: Masters Swim in the KC Area?
I did a search but everything I saw was ~2years old.

Anyone have any recommendations for Masters Swim sessions in the KC area, JoCo woul be preferable. I live in Pittsburgh, PA and will be in town to see family over the holidays but I want to get in a couple swims. Buying a week pass or punch card for a gym isn't really a big deal. I'll be in town from the 22nd through the 2nd and am free for any time/day swims.

I go to Prairie Life in Olathe- 135th and Blackbob (also one in Overland Park on Metcalf).  If you google search them you can see the schedule for masters at each club.  I usually swim in the 7-8 pm T/R group, but I know there are morning, lunch and weekend groups at both.  Our workouts are divided into 3 groups- distances are about 2500-3200 yards with a mix of free/stroke.  We have a range of abilities and I am sure others do to.  I am pretty sure they sell punch cards/ week passes.

I know Lifetime fitness has several locations and John swims there- he could give you more info on how exactly they work.

Other Master Swims in the area:

The Jewish Community Center in Overland Park has master swim M-W-F froom 12-1pm, T-T mornings 5:45-6:45p, and T-T evening 5:30-6:3p. You can get a free 5 day pass on-line.

Roeland Park has a nice indoor 50m pool for master swim but I don't know the schedule. They have a punch card system.

The Roeland Park masters practice is from 5:30 to 7:00am Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The cost is $5 a practice. However, you can get a scan card at the Roeland Park Aquatic Center front desk and buy a scan card at 15 passes for $70 (JoCo resident) or $77 (Non-JoCo resident) although I doubt that would be of interest to you.

I have not visited the other masters groups mention, however this group is pretty big and welcoming of new swimmers.  It's also nice that it is a big pool to swim in.

Some of the YMCAs have a Master Swim class but I don't know how much instruction/ assistance they provide.  The Y in Olathe is 5:30-7 am, Tue and Thurs....I show up later and use their workout they have posted for the day.

JCC is good but needs membership. That is a show stopper. Excellent coach and the group as well.

Thought I would add this since I just saw the posting yesterday, this info is to the best of my recollection:

Platte City/ North Platte YMCA will start doing masters swims 4 times per week:

Monday 630-730 AM

Tues/Thursday - 630-730 PM

Sat - 7-8 AM

Not sure when it starts, but I'd bet its after 1/1/2013, says $10 but not sure what that covers?  I'll update this if I get more info, or after I've gone a few times to feel it out.
