I'm a 35 yo mother of 3 from Washington State. I've been running for a year and half, started biking last spring, and began swimming 3 days ago. I'll be doing a "My First Triathlon" in July and I'm really excited about it. I have a close friend who is an Ironman triathlete and he is an incredible inspiration. I hope to meet some great people here and learn a lot about this sport.

Welcome CherylAnn, Which weekend tri are you doing? I am assuming it is the one in Chelan. I will be there the weekend of JUly 10/11.

Good luck -- you will have a great time here at BT.

Thanks for all the great encouragement! I went to the Coeur d'Alene Ironman over the weekend and it was amazing. A friend of mine was competing. The atmosphere is absolutely electric!

NancyTris, I will be there to support a friend on the 11th. I'm doing it on the 17th. Maybe I'll run into you there!

Good luck with your training! 3 kids? What ages? I have 2 kids - a 7 yr old daughter and a 5 yr old son. I work part-time. My husband is a competitive mtn bike racer. I have to be opportunistic about my training - I get to swim for a few minutes at the lake with the kids, or I haul son on trail-a-bike to the local coffee shop where he gets a cookie and I get coffee. I try to work in biking or running for local errands. Dear husband and I take turns with our training. Not easy to dedicate time to training when you are a Mom!!!

Go! Go! Go!

My kids are 9, 6, and 2.5. My husband and I work in the same office, so I usually ride my bike or run to work (10.7 miles) and he comes in a bit later. We have a babysitter for the summer, so luckily it works out pretty well. Then, after work we take the kids to the lake and I do my swim. I don't think I could fit in enough training for a tri longer than sprint distance, but I do plan to do a half marathon in the fall. You and your husband are great examples to your children!! Exercise is a new thing in our household but I think it's really valuable to show our kids how important it is. Have you done many tris?

Welcome CherylAnn!

Good luck with your first triathlon. It's such a rush, you'll be hooked the moment you step over the finish line if not earlier.

I'm also doing a half-marathon late November here in Georgia. First a tri... then a halfie... I think we girls can do anything we put our minds too

Cheers

Welcome CherylAnn. I'll be doing My Next Tri in Chelan on the 17th also! My brother will be doing My First Tri the same day. Isn't it amazing to watch the Ironman in CDA? That was the race that got me motivated to do this and now I'm hopelessly hooked! You'll have such a great time next Saturday that I'm sure you will be too. I'm sure we'll see each other there at some time. I'll be the guy on the older Schwin Paramount that is Washington Husky colors. Good luck and have FUN!

I'll watch for you Flyboy!! I will be riding an old Cannondale with no distinguishable markings. In fact, it doesn't even say Cannondale! LOL. I have super short blond hair and will probably be dressed in black the whole time. (Don't have any cool exercise clothes yet ;-) A friend of mine is doing My Next, and then a group of 6 of us will be doing My First.
