Pre-race routine:

Made the decision to race- thought about going home because of rain. Had a power bar, banana, mountain dew :) Lots of nervousness looking at the open water.
Event warmup:

not much. a little stretching.
Swim
  • 11m 25s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 36s / 100 yards
Comments:

I was really worried about the swim, my past ows experiences have not been good. This was good- the water was warm and calm. There were a lot of people that were fair swimmers like me. Loved being able to touch bottom in most places.
What would you do differently?:

Not be so worried.
Transition 1
  • 01m 55s
Comments:

Had a little trouble getting me helmet buckeled. Also someone hocked my sunglaases, which I spent a little time looking for before saying ofrget it. Turns out I didnt need them anyway- not much sun and I didnt encounter any bugs heading for my face:) I has a yellow flag to mark my transition area I took from the bike buggy- worked awesome! I had people thanking me for bringing it.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe run a little faster to transition area.
Bike
  • 1h 09m 11s
  • 22 miles
  • 19.08 mile/hr
Comments:

I was SO happy to be out of the water- I think i was smiling the rest of the race. I loved passing these guys on sweet bikes:) I had a great ride, and was happy it wasnt raining.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 01m 33s
Comments:

I had a little trouble getting my bike racked. I go to put on my shoes and see that the lace has been pulled out of the top hole in both shoes???? What the heck? After I figured out what was going on I relaced and was off.
What would you do differently?:

I am pretty sure my shoes were laced and ready to go- so i honestly think someone messed with my stuff- how to overcome that?? I need alittle more practice getting off bike.
Run
  • 26m 16s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 27s  min/mile
Comments:

Really wanted to stay under 26 minutes for the run. Was hard to keep a good pace.
What would you do differently?:

Pick up my pace sooner at the end- I dint ralize the finish was as close at it was
Post race
Warm down:

Not enough- kind of a sore butt!

Event comments:

I placed 6th in my age group!! Not bad for my first tri:)!! A great course and race.

Hey awesome race...this was your first? great job. I feel your pain on the swim, but I agree the shallow water helped. It is too bad if someone was messing with your stuff. Also too bad we didn't meet up. I found Stargazer, but never did locate the other Bters.
