I used to use a phone book but I sweat like crazy and the paper would leave a mess on the floor. I built 2 risers out of scrap 2x4s and foam packing material I had laying around because I was too lazy and cheap to go to the store and buy a riser. I have been very happy with the home made version so I have stuck with it over 3 years now. Total cost $0.00 + 30' of time. If you want a photo let me know

I saw a simple riser on sale at PerformanceBike for $10.  Really not worth going through any extra effort for that price, huh?

Old hardcover book for me. It has been working perfectly for the last two years.

I use a brick, If I'm doing hill training I use a stack of bricks (usually 3), solid as a rock never worry about falling off so I can concentrate on my sufferfest...

Same here, I flip it over every now and then to keep it from dipping too much in the middle.

When I first got my trainer I also bought the cycleop's riser but found it to be useless and returned it.

I don't think you understand the concept of laziness.

Magazine (or two or three), book(s), phone book, wood scrap, piece of old tile... whatever I can find that's laying around and is the right height. For the last tow years, it's been two old Travel and Leisure magazines.

I have a riser block (three, actually...) but never use it (for one reason, none of them is the right height for the bike i have on the trainer now).

I don't know what you people are doing to fall off the other things, but I've never fallen off of mine, and I ride pretty much daily.

Perhaps this is indicative of why triathletes can't hold their line?
