What did you buy? I can't decide on a tri bike or road bike with clip on aero bars for racing?

A buddy of mine had a bike he built using one of those cheap carbon frames from china and it felt really good compared to the road bike I have been racing with so I went with one of those.  It cost around $400-$500 bucks plus shipping.  I am just waiting on a headset right now and it will be complete for under $1000.

I bought a bike!! Now I am training hard for seal sprint. I bought a specialized Allez compact. Got it used from a guy who rode it twice. Like brand new, and a great beginner bike.... See you in March

I'm signed up, although I am admittedly very nervous for the OWS since it's bound to be very cold! Just relocated 2 weeks ago from warm Florida where most people ask "What's a wetsuit?" Hubby got orders to the Reagan here at North Island, and I wanted to continue running triathlons, so here I am. I'm sure the water will be frigid but thankfully I have a full wetsuit, just purchased a few days ago and will try to get into the water everyday until the race. Otherwise, I'm just looking to finish the race at this point. Good luck to everyone!

p.s. does everyone where those fancy neoprene swim caps or just swim with like a latex one followed by the official race cap they give you?

I am actually staying down at the NAS lodge Saturday night.  The water is suppose to be in the upper 50s so yea a full suit would be recommended and I even wear booties for anything below 60.  some people do wear those fancy caps but a majoroity just wear the ones they give you.  My advice is to get in the water first thing Sunday morning to get rid of that initial shock.  San Diego and the surrounding counties offer a ton of triathlons year round so you will not be in a shortage of them.
