Subject: RE: best mp3 for swimming If someone wants a SwiMP3, I'll sell mine on the cheap. Just PM me. My AudioFlood device arrived yesterday, and it is a far better solution. I think the sound quality from the SwimP3 is OK, but two problems. First, it doesn't fit under my headphone strap well. It makes the strap cut into my ears and my googles leak more from the edges. Too fiddly to get it to stop leaking and feel right. Second, I can still hear water sounds in my ears, so I have to use silicone plugs in my ears to quiet that down. I have a low hassle tolerance, and living with SwiMP3 exceeds that tolerance. A few years back I tried a waterproof iPod Shuffle case (edit: H20 Audio) and found it bulky and leak prone with low quality built-in headphones (tinny with no bass). It worked OK for about 4 months... before the headphone cable broke, and it had a 3 month warranty. I didn't replace it because putting my iPod into the case and ensuring a leakproof seal was a hassle. And the weight of the iPod plus case dragged my goggle strap down the back of my head, again cutting into my ears unless I tightened the straps to the point of discomfort around my eyes. Again, hassle tolerance exceeded. The AudioFlood solution is a waterproofed latest generation Shuffle, and wow! I went a straight 50 laps with it in the pool last night and night-and-day difference. Full Shuffle functionality, light, worry-free, hassle-free, and the $10 replaceable waterproof headphones gave great quality. My 2500 yard 50 minute swim set flew by. Lightweight, no hassle, no water noise in my ears, regular goggles fit, nothing to twiddle or tighten. Finally a solution that is within my hassle tolerance.' edit: 3rd problem with SwiMP3: MP3 only support! TSince most of my music is ripped in ACC format for iTunes, it's a hassle to convert and copy. I did spend $150 on this solution, nobody said triathlon was cheap. Edited by brucemorgan 2012-12-23 12:36 PM
