Rough year for my wife and my sports heroes.  Lance Armstrong for me and Suzy Favor-Hamilton for my wife (Local Wisconsin girl who is a legend here, ran for UW-Madison, competed 3 times in the Olympics, my wife ran against her in college).   Oh, and in between her motivational speaking engagements and sponsorships, the USA TODAY reported today that she apparently also works as a $600 an hour call girl...

Tim Tebow seems like a safe bet from future disappointment.

I remember running against Suzy back in high school, saw her a couple years ago at a Susan Komen race.

I'm a big fan of Sarah Rienertson.  I'm also available to worship.

My sports hero for 2013 is going to be BT's very own Me-Xman....

I'm going to keep it local for a while...

Sports hero is an oxymoron.   There are those who we admire but don't give them credit outside of their speciality.

That's a craaazy story. It sounds like it wasn't even because she needed the money. She and her husband (who knew about it, apparently) lived in a big house, had plenty of money, etc. She didn't really even hide who she was from some of her "clients".

I read that and immediately had to look it up because that's one of those things that's so out there it almost has to be true.  That's unreal.

Tebow?  I guess 3rd-string quarterbacks can be heroes too.

Seriously, I liked the recommendation to keep the hero-worship limited to what they do on the field as opposed to off.

btw, LOVED the Kitna story.

Jennifer Pharr Davis, this humble young woman set the record for the fastest trek of the Appalachian Trail.  She is an amazing endurance athlete and former triathlete, you should read her inspirational story.

Hey, I've had the Hugh Jackman/Wiggo style burns for a decade... Throwback from the scooter boy days.

I met Chrissie on her book tour in Chicago, she really was as nice and humble as people make out, she's number 2 on my list even if she is reprioritizing.

I have hero worship and a serious cruch on Tatyana McFadden. I met her on queue at BWI airport and noticed her wheels were the same brand as I ride on my road bike. She was more interested in hearing about my Cat5 bike racing and not talking about how she's a multiple Olympic medalist and won the Chicago marathon. She's such an inspirational woman.

Aaah...

Tiger Woods? Oh wait never mind.

Maybe someone who retired long ago like Yogi Berra, always liked him. Laughing

Tim Tebow is the only one who comes to mind of todays crop.

Derek Jeter.  And that's coming from a die-hard Red Sox fan.

In my experience, the people who make the biggest show of their righteousness are only doing it for the show.
