Way to go Steve.. I glad you had fun at the end of the day.. Nice to get some stuff off the "bucket list for sure.. The weather here played with my training   but I used my Norditrack. My bike is in the shop getting checked out..

Have a safe trip home.

Hows it going out there!!???? Everyone still excited about the races coming up?  I'm started to get a bit nervous about the increase in training that I need for IM vs. available time.  Will figure it out somehow ( I hope ).   Last week was OK.  Got in my 1st outdoor ride of of the year which felt great.  Bid difference out there vs. the basement.  3 hrs outside tired me out good.

R:

Today was my 1st outdoor run of the year.  What a difference from the soft, bouncy, pre-set pace experience of the confy treadmill.  7 miles beat me up pretty good.   Rush hour traffic @ 5:30 on a narrow 2 laner with tiny shoulders was a bit scary at times.

Note to self - "get outside before mid April" next year.

1000m swim and 4.67 mile run on Friday and then a 24 mile bike ride split with football practice tore me up pretty bad.  Then hockey yesterday made it really easy to excuse myself from my swim today, plus the wind and bad dust storm.

I'll be back on training wagon tomorrow but this weekend doesn't look good.  Aside from a 15 mile mountain bike ride on Friday, it's gonna be hard to get my training in.  Work Work Work.

Well my doc put me on a round of Anti-Inflammatory Steroids to address my shoulder issues and said no swimming for at least 2-3 weeks.

Then last night I strained my calf and suffered a partial tear so now no real running for 2-3 weeks.  So I'm stuck on the bike for the next few weeks.  My leg workouts have been cut down to non-impact/non-jumping or pushing off.

It'll be an interesting time.  Modified strength workouts/hockey and biking only.

Sucks sucks sucks

Hello All,

I'm back from the abyss of moving and have most of my workout equipment with me finaly.

I'm half in the process of moving between Ottawa ON CAN -> Winnipeg MB CAN.

On the way down both of my bikes got destroyed by a tow truck ... but have no fear kijiji rescued me with a new to me GIANT TCR2, set of rollers and a computer for this 'new to me' bike all for under $500.00!

So I finaly get this lovely bike on the road and ... 10 km in I snap a spoke!  Phone call the support at home for a pickup and now to repair the wheel (I have no idea how much that is going to cost).

I now have a pool right beside my work (~400m away) with resonable hours, no more than 2 oppertunities a day, so rather accessible.

I'm starting to log again after about a 3 week break, and I"m going to have to check my GPS for the runs I've been up to.

Question to the group, are there many people still working strong or are most going through some ups and downs this season?

I'm in physical therapy 2 to 3 times a week for my shoulder. No swimming or upper body workouts until I'm in at least 2 weeks of therapy (this is week 1.)  My calf is doing better but I can still feel it and it's not nearly as flexible as it once was, so no running yet, maybe next week.

Meanwhile I'm in Motor School (law enforcement motorcycle,) which is an intense 3 week program of riding nearly 10 hours a day. EXHAUSTING!!!  We start at 0500 which makes any kind of workout difficult.  So I'm putting in a little time on the bike in the morning but that's all I've got time for.  Once things are back to normal I will be logging regularly again.

Was wondering where everyone was.   Just checked in and noticed I accidentally shut off notifications for this thread.  Glad to see some of you are going strong!!   I've got a half ironman this weekend in PA and still on track for IM Austria end of next month.  Been getting in good quality workouts but not the quantity I've hoped for.  Life just gets in the way sometimes but I'm psyched as ever.
