It would be nice to keep the group going. I did my 5th LA Marathon on Sunday. I am trying chi running. I forced myself to go slow and stay with my cadence. I've been struggling with asthma. It was my slowest and I felt great. No asthma attacks and I did not get tired. Now I need to figure out how to pick up my chi pace. Have a great week!

LEAN! I know, easier said than done. CONGRATS on your marathon! The steady cadence really helps me. One day maybe I'll do a marathon.

Thanks. I lost 2lbs last week. has anyone ever heard of "jumping jack pushups" or "pushup jacks"?
We had to do that crap this morning and it was haaaaaaaaarrrrrd! I found a short video of it. See below. Who comes up with these stuff?

Congrats on the Marathon! How wonderful to finish a marathon and feel great.

I would like to learn more about chi running, but the seminars are so expensive.

Thanks. It was an expensive seminar.  I did get a lot of information and attention.  I think I will make up the savings by not using my rescue inhaler.  They do have a book and a dvd.

Up and at 'em early tomorrow. Driving from Atlanta to Ocala for my first Tri of the season. I was fitted for a wetsuit... MAN it's tight, but apparently that's normal... and good. Oy.

Last thing to do is put the bike in the car!

I hope to post some info from the race, but we'll see how it works out. I'm then heading to Miami Monday for the week. I hope to get in some LONG training days.

Hope everyone is getting some work in outdoors. It's sure been cold here, maybe it will get warmer soon. Cross fingers!

WooHoo! I ran 1.2 miles nonstop today! It was a sloooowww run but that broken ankle of mine held up. No pain, just discomfort.

The discomfort wasn't from my ankle but the opposite leg due to overcompensating. No matter how hard I tried running with equal weight on each foot, I felt all the weight on my right leg (left is broken). One of the runners came back for me as I was the last one. She is almost two years out from the same injury and have the same 8 screws/1 plate. She said take my time and I will overcompensate until my subconscious accepts that I CAN run on that foot. It will just take time.

I was still so proud of myself.

Back to my swimming class tomorrow at 6am!

How'd the tri go?  And yes wetsuits are tight.  If you don't know already, make sure you put body glide or suit juice on the bottom of your legs to make it easier to get the darn thing off.  I also put body glide on the back of my neck to prevent chaffing. They can be a pain to get off, especially quickly. One reason why Ironman branded races (and perhaps others) have wetsuit strippers before you enter T1.

Yesterday had my final 20 miler prior to the 3 week taper for Boston. I can't believe it's in 3 weeks.  Felt alright after the run yesterday. Had to take motrin during the run because of the ankle tendonitis, but hoping I can get through the next 3 weeks and the race without it giving me too much trouble. I've been working with a chiropractor since January to help it.

Now, if the weather here would just start acting spring like. It was in the low 30's yesterday (which I don't mind for running) but the wind! It was brutal. 20-30 mph gusts! Lake Michigan had white caps. I am SOOO ready for some warmer temps.

Had a great double workout today. Boot Camp was seriously kicking my butt at 5:30 am this morning. It was way too early to have to be ready to keel over from exhaustion.

This afternoon, took my boys to the gym too swim. I was all ready to relax with my new ebook but changed my mind. Decided to to a swim workout with no pool toys:

Week is 3x the yardage. Week 1 is 700 per day, 2100 for the week

WEEK one (Day 1):
4 x 100 yards (or meters)...rest for 12 breaths between 100s
4 x 50 yards...rest for 8 breaths between 50s
4 x 25 yards...rest for 4 breaths between 25s
total: 700 yards

Sat in the hot tub for about 10 minutes afterwards to soothe my sore muscles. Now i am tired and ready for a nap but have to cook first.

Can't talk about my race. Moving on.

Spent the week in Florida last week and it was nice. I had my bike and did a 20 mile bike and 2 mile run, then The next day a good 4 mile run on my favorite soft trail.

I did a couple of speed workouts earlier in the week while at my friends house too. SO, I didn't waste too many days. 70.3 is in 6 weeks. All I can do is train.

Had a swim lesson in an endless pool kind of pool. It was really good. The instructor is great also.

That's all I've got for now!

Hope everyone is seeing some spring flowers etc. I talked to my brother in SD last night. He sill has a foot of snow on the ground and 22 inches of ice on his fishing lake. Patience is a virtue I tell him. He was baking cookies.

Keep up the good work Lovey!

Steph, bad races are the stuff that make us want to do better. On to the 70.3!

Now, if I can only learn to take my own advice as I may need it on April 15.  I have been battling knee pain (in addition to the ever present ankle tendonitis) Chiro thinks it could be bursitis in my knee. Oh great!  Fortunately it happening during my taper. Had to cut down the running even more. Now, while I know that during the final two weeks prior to a race I am not going to gain or loss much fitness (as a coach once said, The cake in in the oven now, meaning nothing more you can do) its' a mental thing.  Rest and healing is the most important thing now. NOT making sure I do each workout. I don't want a 26.2 mile sufferfest. I had a long talk with myself during today's 6 mile run. I will repeat it now....Self, just go and enjoy the day, the fact that you made it to Boston twice counts for something. What ever happens, happens. Don't worry about time.  Be smart.  Don't make the injuries worse.

Now, I have 8 days to really convince myself.

Ah, the dreaded taper! Rest, leg drains, swimming? You'll do great! My friend Steph (one of three of us who used to work together) is running Boston also. Her Charity is DREAM BIG! it encourages providing sports participation for young girls. She's from Chicago also.

I'll be tracking you if possible!!

Hill repeats yesterday... I'm sore today, but I did 10 of them and didn't even realize it! Yay!

Questioning my fitness for the 70.3, hope to squeeze in some open water swimming up here. Lake Lanier is 66 degrees. Brrrrr.

Hi all,I am safe as is my husband who was watching. I am a bit freaked out, but ok. I was having a great race until mile 14 when I started getting horrible leg cramps, by mile 18 I was getting full body cramps, cramps in places I didn't think it was possible to cramp. Still not sure why as I was hydrated and taking salt tabs. But, I guess I should be thankful for the cramps, because I had to slow WAY down and if I had continued on pace and finished when I expected to...I would have been finishing around the time of the blasts. I ran 25.71 miles. I then walked an additional 4 miles trying to get my gear bag and then find my husband and get back to where we were staying. I am sore, tired but thankful. I feel horrible for those who were not so lucky as I. What a senseless tragidy. Susie

I was thinking of you, thank you for the text.

The news just gets worse and worse. I feel for those people and their families and friends.

Today I'll wear a race shirt and run for them, and you.
