Hear a bunch of good things about this one and think it sounds like a good season opener. Going to make a memorial day weekend of it and thinking of renting a cabin at a campgrounds anyone from the area have a suggestion on cabin rentals by a lake for boating/skiing that I could rent for the weekend.

Thanks

I don't believe Island Lake does any overnight camping, and if they do, it's something like four cabins.

However, Brighton Rec Area is right up the road, and I know they have a pretty good camping setup. Its website says they have boat rentals, too.

Island Lake Triathlon is a nice race. I did both the spring and summer this past year and had a blast at both.

Thats a nice area, about 15 minutes from my house. Portage lake is connected to the chain of lakes, there are 9 lakes that are connected by the Huron River. Can make a weekend of just boating around all the lakes. Portage is the biggest out of all of them, need any information from the area let me know or if you need information of what the area is around the house you are looking at just send me an email or PM and I will take a drive down to the house.

Yep, it's a nice area -- Dexter is a cute town, Pinckney and Brighton aren't far away, and Ann Arbor is just a few minutes down US 23. My in-laws also live on the chain of lakes, so I have done a lot of OWS'ing in Bass Lake. =)

For the fall Island Lake race, we tried to have a BT meetup. We could try again for the spring if enough of us are planning on racing.

I'm in for a BT meet up for sure!  This year I'll try to snag a picnic table and put up a balloon or something so we can all chillax and chat after the race.

Hoping to make it to Island Lake!  If so, I will be in also!

430 of 550 slots already filled. Better register if you want in on the Spring race. I'll be there.

As soon as I saw this I registered... don't know if you're pulling our legs or if you're an Element Events spy... Wink I've never registered for anything this early but I don't want to miss this race!

Yikes!  I know this race has become one of the most popular in SE MI.  I also just got an email reminder that the price goes up after 2/1.  I normally don't sign up this early either, especially with little overuse injuries cropping up as of late; however, I don't want to miss this one so I'm signing up today!

Not a spy ;-) Last week when I registered it was right there on their website. Said 126 slots remaining, or something like that. Not sure what happened to it? I've got a call into Element Events to see why they took it down. I was surprised it was so full already. Last year they sold out about a month out if I remember correct.

I'm glad I got my spot already. Looking forward to this one!
