Looks like it might rain Saturday. Bummer. How does rain change one's strategy, if at all. So nervous!

The hills and turns aren't bad, but maybe slower is better on the wet surface. If you have amber or clear sunglasses, bring them. I hate getting pelted in the eyes with rain. Bring extra socks and maybe a jersey in a plastic bag. I've been training with socks, so I'm not excited about going without but I get blisters in wet socks. Choices.

To add to the fun, I'm very sore from a crazy track and strength session so just waiting hoping to be healed up for the race.

Clear safety glasses are also an option. I love my orange lenses for a crappy day because it makes the world seem cheerier.  Worth the money.

You'll probably need less hydration.  Or, if you have to take a potty mid-ride it will be less noticeable during the rain.

Stay away from line paint on the road, it's slippery when wet.

I'd be thanking my lucky stars for light rain and not terribly cold but cool on a half iron day.  It drizzled steadily during the bike and part of the run on my half and I am sure it helped my performance.

I would NOT be worried.  It's "few showers" for the forecast right now, so probably spotty.  Have fun!

Wouldn't synthetic or wool socks eliminate the worries about wet socks?  I would ride sockless even with the rain, because I always ride sockless, but I would keep my shoes and run socks inside a bag to stay dry until T2.    You can pack your transition area in a small rectangular plastic box.  Just lift the lid (so the water goes off the back) to grab what you need, but organize the inside exactly how you would organize your area if on the ground.

Have an awesome race, guys and gals!

Great suggestions on dry bags for a dry jersey and socks. I always ride and run with socks. Can't imagine going without although I understand many people do.

I'm just sitting down to make my packing list and think through the transitions.

I am so dreading the cold swim. Maybe it will end up being a super perfect weather day.

The swim really will only be cold for the first few minutes. Then you will warm up fine. You will be surprised.

The forecast is that the rain will hold off until the afternoon. If that is the case then the weather will be perfect for a race. The 90 plus degrees last year made for a miserable run.

Have fun tomorrow

I beat six hours which I'm happy and surprised about. OK 5:59:57... Water was fine. Kinda funny that it was ok for the race, but near intolerable to go back into for my "ice bath." The bike was great. Word to the wise: don't switch race distances the week before. I had the wrong colors on and it was driving the poor volunteers nuts. The run was great. I walked often as I'm still recovering from a back issue. I've gotten better at walking though. Nice day, nice volunteers and nice racers. Perfect. Food not as generous as last year, but I think that's a sign of the times. I would do it again.
