Pre-race routine:

Arrived in Austin day before, and stayed at the host hotel. So nice to be right at the race site and have a bike (rented). This was part of a hill country vacation for me and Kerry. Met up with Jackie at the expo, and had lunch afterwards. Felt the water and it was pretty warm. Up early, bkfst at the hotel, and waited to see if wetsuits were a possibility or not.
Event warmup:

None that I remember.
Swim
  • 36m 57s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 15s / 100 yards
Comments:

Didn't really push it, and minimal contact. Kept drifting into another gal (or was she drifting into me?). Uneventful swim, which is always good.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe work on the drifting right, and yeah, could use some speed.
Transition 1
  • 07m 19s
Comments:

Must have been doing my hair and makeup!
What would you do differently?:

Move faster.
Bike
  • 1h 34m 1s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 15.86 mile/hr
Comments:

Was on a rented Specialized Dolce, and very glad to have it. Minimal bike training...had been bikeless for a while after crack discoverd in my bike frame.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing...just enjoyed the day.
Transition 2
  • 05m 27s
Comments:

Must have missed doing my nails in the 1st transition :).
What would you do differently?:

Move faster.
Run
  • 1h 01m 34s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

Got pretty hot out there and started to cramp last couple miles. Enjoyed finishing up with a few others who were also struggling.
Post race
Warm down:

Quick shower and hit the road to Fredericksburg!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of bike training and vacation mindset. Turns out this was actually an OLY PR, so I'll take it.

Event comments:

Quality race and enjoy this venue.

Race wound up not being wet suit legal. Not that I anticipated anything other than mid/back of pack, but just as well...would have cooked in it.
