Couple photos of my new tri bike. First one is when I got it this fall and the second after I brought it in for a ride last week after getting the Quarq moved over to it.

I've ridden a Cervelo S1 for the last few years, first in road position, then with clip on Aerboars and seat forward. My new P5 is a lot more forgiving and maneuverable in tri position.

Love it, but a waste to put the bottle there.  Better location is behind the seat.

The Magura brakes are powerful. You have to be mindful of how much pressure you're applying when going downhill fast.

The bottle won't be on the downtube in a race. That was the first day I was riding the bike and was feeling it out. Notice also the bike bag in the first photo is not appropriate either.

I didn't think I'd like the Di2 shifters as much as I do.

just curious, as I'm a happy S1 rider (with an integrated headset and forward saddle), are the differences dramatic in your opinion? Is your positioning roughly the same?  Your P5 is gorgeous, it's just a rare opportunity to ask questions such that you're going from a bike I know intimately, so I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. I would expect the handling to be more comfortable, as you say, but I don't think of that as too big an issue for me as is. The P5 is lower and longer by ~2cm for each, can you actually feel that? As it were, I've wondered if the fact that I'm off my "ideal" fit by 2cm of frame in reach is a big deal or not, and I kinda doubt it is, but let me know what you think.

I don't notice anything dramatic in terms of stack and reach geometry between a 54 S1 and the 54 P5. The P5 is just more comfortable for me (I'm 5'11"). I'm using the same tri saddle that I had on the S1. The aero cockpit on the P5 is about as cushy as it gets. I was riding with JBend bars on the S1, so that's stayed the same too. The big difference is that it "seems" easier to get moving and keep moving. I attribute that to the lightness of the bike more than my position. It's certainly not my current lack of fitness that's helping. Laughing Bottom line, my position is very similar to where I was on the S1, but I find it more comfortable to stay in that position.

Oh man, I'm really jealous.  I can't graduate soon enough.  While my classmates will be buying cars or houses I will be grabbing one of these.

Are you going to get dark speed works bag for the top tube?  How is the Di2 shifting, is it really that much better/snappier?  Are the brakes difficult to adjust at all?  Where on earth do you live that has green grass right now?  I haven't seen the pavement on the street in front of my house in a couple weeks.

Are you going to get dark speed works bag for the top tube?

Yes, I'm planning on it.

How is the Di2 shifting, is it really that much better/snappier? Are the brakes difficult to adjust at all?

Absolutely. Originally I was planning on doing SRAM Red shifters but I'm really happy I went with Di2. It's incredibly responsive. The brakes are not difficult to adjust once you read the manual. I haven't had any issues with them that have required me to take it into the shop (yet).

Where on earth do you live that has green grass right now?  I haven't seen the pavement on the street in front of my house in a couple weeks.

The green grass is when I got the bike in San Diego in Sept. I'm in NYC, so not much green grass around here, period.

Will have an idea once I'm back into structured training again. I'll be sure to include comparisons throughout the season.

Even if I saw no increase in speed, I'd still be happy with the P5 because it's a more agreeable experience for me.
