Time goals? Event goals? Distance goals? Post your 2013 goals here. . For me, my major goal is to crush my marathon PR in about 9 weeks. After that, my goal is to re-embrace triathlon training (I've only been running lately) and, hopefully, get geared up for another 70.3 race.

Sub 4 at P.F. Chang's on the 20th, (my last marathon I didn't know what I was doing and ran a 5:04) Sub 2:30 OLY at either Marquee or Tempe International. Have fun at both Boise 70.3 and Mountain Man OLY (Or HIM) and go sub 5:15 at SOMA.

Hopefully I'll see ya at the races!

Well, I set PRs in every distance I raced in 2012, so I am struggling with coming up with suitable goals for 2013 (no way I can repeat what I did in 2012).  So let's see......

  • Marathon goal - no results over 3:45:00 (running 2 marathons in 2013)
  • Oceanside 70.3 - Sub-5:30:00
  • Swimming - Improve my catch and pull (to get faster)
  • Cycling - Increase my "comfort gear" by 1-2 cogs (again, to enhance avg speed)
  • Running - Become stronger on my triathlon runs to maintain a 'normal' tri-run pace of 8:00/mi
  • Get drawn for Kona in the lottery (ok, out of my control, but a goal nonetheless)
  • Sub-11hr Ironman AZ

Two big ones:

1) Drop my 5K time into the 20s (greedily, I want the 19s, but that might not be possible)

2) Do my first HIM, preferably under 6 hours. I'll most likely do Soma.

I have a lot of races planned and would like to PR in the Half Marathon and 10K as I work on goals 1 and 2. I also plan on several sprints and Olys.

I also PR'ed in all distances last year. We'll see if I can keep that going...

My original goal was IMAZ 2013, but after getting Valley Fever in July I wasn't sure when I'd be able to get back to training so I missed the signup. Turned out I had to take 6 months off.  So I'm moving that goal to 2014, but my goals are to do one of each Ironman category in 2013.  Heres my whole breakdown:

1- Complete a 2.4 mile swim

2- Complete a 112 mile bike

3- marathon (late in the year)

4- half marathon (Lost Dutchman)

5- Half IM (most likely Sona)

6- lose 35 pounds (gained about 18 pounds during Valley Fever)

7- buy a tri-bike

My goals for this year are lofty for my current skill set, yet attainable:

1.  Finish Ironman Arizona 2013 before midnight.
2.  Finish Ironman Arizona with my wife by my side throughout the bike, run and, most importantly, as we cross the finish line.  My wife and I are training together for this. Laughing
3.  Finish Ironman Arizona 2013 in 15:XX with my wife by my side.
4.  Follow my coach's (Frank Sole) advice and training plans, AND be responsible in hanging tough yet providing Coach Sole with appropriate feedback.  We started with Frank Sole (www.soleswimsolutions.com) 1/1/13.  (This one includes remaining injury-free)
5.  Have fun doing this crazy stuff!

Welcome to the Sole Swim team Mikeylee!  As I'm sure you have already figured out, Frank is the man.  Swim guru, great tri coach, and overall awesome guy.  He has helped me leaps and bounds in the water.  Hope to see you at our Thursday night strength class some time.

I've been kind of half assing training for a couple of years and 2013 is the year when I'm going to focus on getting better and faster. My goals for this year will be:

1. To compete in at least 8 events.

2. Get my run time down below 10 min miles (hopefully 9:15 so that I could do a 2 hr 1/2 marathon).

3 Buy a tri bike with power and increase avg speed into the 18 mph range.

4. Swim.....haven't been in the pool that much in the last 1 1/2 years. Lots of drills and speed work.

5. Start with a coach...we'll see who I go with but there are several great local coaches here in AZ.

6. Sign up for IMAZ 2014.

7. Stay injury free.
