I'm doing well. The cravings have really faded. I am still around 100g of carbs per day, so more than likely not ketogenic, but still feeling good and starting to see a few small physical differences. I am down 6.4 lbs since the 3rd. I am trying to get sick . . . I can feel my body fighting it off. Let's hope the body wins.

Day 16 unsweetened.  Still sick and was craving bread...made chick soup yesterday and noticed my bread craving went away with the added fat from the chicken, yay!

Going well here. Been making a super high-fat smoothie in the mornings. Usually makes about 32 oz . . . lasts me an hour or more. Seems to help tremendously throughout the day:

almond milk
almond butter
coconut milk
heavy whipping cream
some type of protein (I mix hemp and rice proteins)
spirulina
flax
1/2 yellow sqash
2 strawberries (at most)
lots of kale/romaine/spinach
1/2 tbsp coffee grounds

Day 17 Unsweetened, going strong.  ONe of my clients had given me a box of Harry & David truffles....I put them in the glove compartment in my car.  Out of sight out of mind, although they did sit on my kitchen counter without temptation.  Yesterday I was sitting at the red light and a homeless vet, on oxygen was begging form the median.....I passed along the box of truffles to him.

How is everyone doing? I will admit that I let my friend talk me into going out and having a beer the other night. A local place got Dogfish Head 120 minute on tap . . . a rarity, so I took advantage. I will say that the beer tasted MUCH sweeter than I remember (not sure that has anything to do with my lack of sugar this month or just my fuzzy memory). Either way, I felt terrible the next morning. Just goes to show how much our bodies become accustomed to sugar and grain.

Otherwise I am good. My main goal was to go 100% until my first work trip at the end of next week. I intend on keeping this up through most of tri season, especially into the summer when I start my HIM training. I am noticing some definite changes throughout my core lately. I would like to keep those going.

I had something that was supposed to be sugar free, turned out it was not, and I felt like I was spinning after a joint. Not that. Hve any idea what tHat sensation is like, mind you..... Um, anyway,...... I haven't checked my glucose in a year, when my a1c had dropped to where my pre-diabetic diagnosis was called "managed." My glucose testing over the last day in many circumstances shows that with my ketogenic diet, I have no problem declaring myself reversed/cured of any trace of type two diabetes. My offical labs will be in two months.

Day 19 UNSWEETENED and going strong.  Before I went sugar-free I had a beer sometime in December and about half-way through it, I felt awful.  This bloated feeling and a bit painful.  I didn't finish the beer.  I don't think I will even attempt beer again for a long time.

My hats off to anyone who can do sugar-free, I can't.  What do you eat during runs and rides since Gu and such are out?

Most of my training is about an 1 hr-1.5 hours at the moment so no need to eat.  I'm trying a new product http://www.generationucan.com/home.html  for longer stuff.  A big part of the reason for going sugarless is tap into my bodies fat stores rather than to run on glucose.

All is well on the sugar free front.  Tomorrow is my birthday, so I can not promise that I won't have something indulgent

Yesterday was my birthday and my only divergences were a hard cider and movie popcorn.  I can live with that.

Right back on the (grain free/added sugar free) wagon today.

Still fine without the sugar/sweeteners, but went out for Indian food last night, I caved on the naan bread, but back on track today for being grain free.

The last day of January has arrived. I'm curious as to how you all are moving on from here. Toughing it out for a month is one thing. But I hope many of us have transformed our relationship not just with sugar, but sweetness in general. I know I have. I've gone truly low carb, off grains too. Not everyone has to do that, but for the 80% of us who are carb sensitive, that conversion to sugar that all carbs go through in digestion, affects us differently than those 20% who seem to ea anything any time with no consequence.

So updates wanted! How are you and sweetness?

It has been a good month.  I've been grain free and sugar free for the most part. ( Twice I indulged in off plan items for "special" occasions.  1.  Pizza and birthday cake.  2.  Hard cider and movie popcorn.)

Weight has not dropped significantly (2lbs) and I have plenty to lose (BMI=obese).  I need to get back to working out.  My time should clear up significantly in around 3 weeks when my son's swim team ends.  I also need to add more green vegetables and cut my meat/starchy veg portion a bit.

I'm not snacking other than herbal tea with cream.  I'm not hungry.  I am a bit tired of cooking.

I plan to continue much in the same way for February except for the slight changes mentioned above.

31 Days Unsweetened!!  Woohoo!  I'm only down 2 pounds, but I'm hoping being sick for over 2 weeks had something to do with it.  This week I'm finally starting to feel the shift in my appetite.  I'm going to stay sugar-free, and see how it goes as I get back into my training.

Yesterday I ate breakfast at 8:30 was not hungry until about 2-2:30ish.  I went to Starbucks and got the fruit/nut package...only ate the almonds and cashews, tossed the dried fruit

Sadly not every day! I am though remaining no to very low "white stuff" dairy, sugar, flour etc... So hard to work two jobs, train, be wife & mom and do house etc.. Excuses I know but too many roles, not enough me sometimes.

If I plan and prep on weekends for the week my good intentions happen! So thats what I will continue to do. Best wishes to all!!

Yes, I'm still added sweetener free. I don't see a need to add it back. Right now I'm aiming to eat this way (sweetener and grain free) until April 1st. I will allow for very occassional pre-planned indulgences.
