Yep, getting really close.  My goal this year is to start off slow and take it easy.  Just have fun and not worry about times, I'm running the half the day before.  Kids are running the Mickey Mile on Friday and really looking forward to it.  Good times!

Doing Goofy (plus the 5k for kicks) and getting pretty excited.  Just found out my Green Bay Packers are playing their playoff game on saturday night with a 8pm kick-off.  Might have to pull an all nighter.  Sleep is overrated anyway.

Good luck to you two!  Have a blast.  A couple of suggestions:  be sure to "high five" your favorite Disney Characters and maybe take a camera/phone.  All of them will be out there somewhere.  Make it a Fun run.  And secondly, there is a fairly long stretch from about mile 12 to 19 (IIRC) or so that is fairly boring.  Not much to see there.  Just you and the road and the other runners nearby.  Get settled into your "pace groove" and be mentally strong here.

Thanks Bill, we're looking forward to it. Kids are doing the fun run on Friday etc. Have one friend doing the Goofy with the HM Sat and the full Sun. I did not want any part of that.

Had a humorous exchange with the wife today.  I mentioned that I think we get special colored bibs because we're doing the Goofy and she said, "Yeah, so people know not to mess with us?".

I said, "No, more like so people know to get out of the way because I'm about to throw up..."

Hey all. I just thought I'd throw out a little dilemma I'm having and see if anyone may be able to help me out. I'm down at Disney World and am set to do my first marathon on Sunday. The wife and I had a mad rush to leave from NY and I realized I grabbed my HR monitor without the charger, and wouldn't you know - dang battery is dead! I have a garmin 910xt and am in need of charger. If any of you are somewhere at disney world, as well, and can help out, I can grab some disney transportation out to you.id really appreciate it.

Thanks, John Berlow

John,

I have no idea if this will work, but I have a spare 305 charger I could loan you. Maybe you could call Garmin tech support and see if that's a viable option? If so, I'd be happy to meet you somewhere outside the Disney gates and drop it off for you.

John.. I called Garmin and the 305 charger is not compatible with the 910XT(as expected). Sorry... but good luck this weekend.

Oh, I would be a nervous wreck if that happened to me.  I have a 910 but unfortunately I am nowhere near Disney World.  What I would suggest is to call around to the local running stores.  Many/most of them sell Garmin's.  They may be willing to open up a box for you and charge your 910.  Come to think of it, most of them will be at the Expo.  Maybe charge it at their expo booths.

So you're the guy.... LOL I forgot my charger too, I was ready to just buy one, but the rep mentioned that the cable works for other watches, including the one a friend was complaining about.

They were great, the two guys I was with ended up buying a 610  and the new 10.  I got away without buying anything, and I was the one who dragged them to the booth.

Climbinggonzo - 2013-01-13 3:16 PM Ouch, that was a brutal race.

My wife and I did our first full marathon Sunday at Disney as well and although we are "born and raised" and "bred" for the FL heat / humidity, it was hot for this time of year.  People were cramping, falling out, limping, etc by mile 18-20. We were fine, but I'm feeling it today back at the office. Congrats to all who ran this weekend!

Great run this year.  It was a blast.  I think the changes to the route were an improvement.  It definitely gave you more to see.

x2, less time on the highways and more time in some type of park atmosphere, such as the race track and the ESPN area, made for a better race than last year.
