Hey folks...Can ya'll direct me to some decent priced tri cycling shoes (SPD). I currently have some cheap Diadora road shoes and would like to get some that are a little easier for transition. I have tried to put a WTB ad up but the site won't let me on my computer.

I've bought from Craigslist and was able to get some great shoes for cheap. I also have purchased through Nashbar and have had good luck. They have a good return policy and have always treated me fair. If you do a search on "Triathlon" and then narrow it down to shoes you will see a decent range of shoes.

http://www.nashbar.com/bikes/SearchDisplay?catalogId=10052&storeId=...

PS - I don't work for Nashbar or now anyone that does. I don't benefit from the sale of products or referrals to their site.

the shimano tri shoes are right around 100 bucks and are really nice. Very comfortable and easy to get on via flying mount.

x2 on Nashbar... if you're not in a hurry and just check the website periodically you can sometimes find some great deals.

I ended up finding used tri shoes on the BT classifieds.  For less than $50 I got some older Shimano's with carbon soles in great condition.  Now, I just prefer not to think about whether the previous owner pee'd on the bike... Yell

Fit is important.

Not all of us have similar shaped feet so what works for one of us or even the majority of us may not work for you.

Best to go to a shop to try on different brands to see what fits your feet best.

I actually have some cheap 70$ shimano road shoes that are spd. Two velcro straps. Granted they aren't prolly nearly as good as some other shoes but these are the only shoes I've owned for biking shoes. They actually work pretty good. Got them from nashbar a couple of years ago.  I will probably replace them after this season however.

I have the Specialized Trivent Sport shoes. ~100 bucks ( I picked mine up sub $80)

They're worth checking out, although I think Katy said it best, go try some one, fit is crucial.

I agree 100%.  I have the Shimano TR31 and love them.  Pearl Izumi and Sidi are great but neither fit me and I'm really not a difficult fit.

Go to your LBS and try on bike shoes.  I tried many different shoes and only found SIDI that worked well with my feet.

My youngest daughter has Pearl Izumi and my oldest has Shimano.  It really makes a difference on your foot and preferences.

X2 on the Tri Fly IV by Pearlizumi. I got a pair of Carbon off ebay for $90 new in box. Easy tranistion, and mesh uppers for breathability (if thats a word). There's a ton of models out there, but these all have gotten great reviews.
