Subject: Walden Pond swim/bike with Madcow July 2nd!

Hi Everyone.....more BT fun in the works!

Madcow (Tom) is coming to town and we are meeting Sunday July 2nd, 9 am, at Walden Pond for a swim and a fun no dropping bike ride somewhere around 20-30 miles with a stop at the end at great ice cream place. Joanne is from the area and designing a ride on more quiet streets.

Let's meet at the beach near the boathouse.

Need directions to the park...or want to learn more about Wadlen Pond check out the website.

http://www.mass.gov/dcr/parks/northeast/wldn.htm

My husband and younger daughters (11, 10, & 7) are coming and will play and swim at the beach....don't think they'll do the bike ride though...may meet us for ice cream! Any one else going to bring kids/spouse?

We picked earlier in the day so we can get parking which is $5-7. It can get crowded and they close and let no more cars in.  With all the rain, the beaches are smaller as the pond water level is higher. Anyone know of an alternative place we can park if parking is full and ride/walk to pond.

If you want my cell phone number or want to give me your send me an email or PM me.

If anyone needs a carpool ride, I'm coming from the west - north central part of Mass, I can take 1 person with bike, and I already have a season's parking pass for Walden and all the other MA state recreation areas.  I'm planning on getting there between 8:30 and 8:45 AM.

I mapped out 2 routes for Sunday. One is 34 miles (bt walden loop 1&2) posted below and one is about 23 miles (bt short loop 1&2)

The longer route is on more back roads and has some hilly portions. The shorte route is on more traveled roads with less hills.  I'll type up a cue sheet for one of these once I get a sense of which one folks want to do. Let's hope there's no rain!

So who's in?

So far I've counted me, Kathy, Tom and Max.  Anybody else coming? Nikki?  DK?  Joe?

I might be out for the swim only - I have other obligations later in the day. I'll plan on getting there about the same time as Max...

I changed my mind with some stuff that has come up....if we go for the 20 mile route, Emily could come with us.  She loves to ride with other triathletes...

Emily will bring her wetsuit and continue to practice her ows so she feels comfortable doing a sprint in open water. Maybe we can practice a group start and little swim with her...hmmm

What do you think?

Cool...more folks can come...awesome!

I'm hoping to be there for the bike, but not for the swim.  However, if you're ready to bike and I haven't shown up, then don't wait for me.  I emailed my cell phone number to Joanne B.

I'm looking forward to it!

Oh no!  We were probably still in the pond when you showed up.  I don't think we started swimming until 9:15 or so.....

Oh well - hope you had a good day anyway!
