Hey, man! I'm surprised we haven't hooked up on a run yet...I'm doing the full as well. It's only my 2nd, but I much more prepared than I was last year. Last year I just kind of did what  I wanted to not knowing how to properly train or even run for that matter. It was a brutal, 5:04 long, experience. This year I'm following a plan and have a much better idea of training, pace, etc...I had a goal of 3:50 originally, but after getting sick a couple weeks back I'm having a hard time getting back into things and everything would have to go right for that to happen. If I can beat last year's time by an hour I'll be happy, but my real goal is to break 4 hours.

Running the full and hoping to lay down a BQ.  Lucky me I just got nailed with this flu on Sunday so hoping it moves out in time so as not to be an issue.

holy crap bq?? thats awesome!!! whats ur age group and time needed

i think i would need to be 3 hrs 10 min.    not happinin anytime soon.  DOH!!!

jasen - im shooting for 4 hrs also. are u gonna run w a pacer??? my plan is to to find the 4 hr pacer and try to hang like white on rice.  my last long run was 20 miles at 9:24 per mile and I felt fine afterward,  like i could have kept going and picked the pace up.  i need to be at 9:09 to break 4 hrs do u guys think this is attainable?

i know that i didnt give alot of info to go on, but im gonna give it a whirl, whats the worst that could happen?? and epic blowup???  maybe

also yeah we def should have trained together, i just didnt get the vibe that u were really into it so i didnt want to bother u

with the limited info i gave, do u guys think im in the ball park of 9:09 for 26.2???

Yeah, luckily I aged up this year and am a 3:10 qualifier.

RnR AZ was my first marathon ever a couple years ago and I have so many great memories from it.  Don't worry about time, just go out and soak it all up!

I'm in for the full again this year - my 12th full marathon.

Time goal - I'm going to run a steady race and target 3:40.

Should be another fun day on the course - and cold in the AM.

Ah, man...no bother at all. I know it's hard to sync up plans and schedules so I kind of just threw out the amount I was running and was going to go from there. In fact, I've got a 13 mile run planned for this Sunday if you wanna join. I was going to drive up to TTL and do the SOMA course to change up the scenery.

If you felt good after your 20 miler, there's no reason why you can't hit your goal on race day...For me at least, I always surprise myself during a race. Without seeing any of your training, I'm going to go ahead and give you the benefit of the doubt....Unless you have an epic blow up.

My legs and body felt fine after my last long run...But out of no where my feet are blistering like crazy. I even took a day off hoping they would "harden", but they were tender today on just a 5 mile run. I'm hoping after a taper I'll be good...Not going to stick with the pace group. I'll pace myself at around 9:00/miles and try to save myself for a fast 10k at the end like I did during my last 30k race. We'll see...

Thebigb, good luck on your BQ!! You're going to nail it...

Patrick, hopefully I'll see you out there...

jasen - my plan calls for an 8 mile run that day, i dont think ill get much out of doing a half mary right b4 the race, maybe im on the super lazy ultra taper program.  but if u want some company either in our neighborhood or tempe town let me know time and place.

as far as that goes if anybody else wants to meet to run....lets do it.

I'm in the full this year.  I did San Diego RnR full in June, but I ran with my wife on that one, so I'm solo on this one and looking to get as close to or just under 4 hrs.  We'll see how it goes, but I'll be happy under 4:10 too.

My wife and I are doing the 1/2. It will be her first ever and my second (my other was in 1999!). We have a 12 mile run scheduled for tomorrow as a confidence builder. We should run just under 3 hours (yes, we are slow), and I think (hope?) race day energy and excitement will get us in closer to 2:30. This is our first race of this season which will end with our first IM (IMAZ!)! Have a great race all!

This is my second time running the half.  I've never been as unprepared for a race as I am this one.  Oh well!  It's a fun race, and I figure the energy of the crowd will help me.  I know I can do the distance, I just haven't had a good, long run since Christmas Eve.

Still a great result! The only other time I ran the full here was two years ago on the old course.  That little "hill" at 21 or whatever was a bit cruel.

Mine went great.  I was quite worried it would fall apart due to recovering from this dang flu and my knee that I injured at Xterra was still hurting.  Felt super flat all week long but it all came together yesterday.

1:34 and change going out and 1:32 and change coming in for a 3:07:59 and a BQ time.

Awesome work, gentlemen!! And congrats on your BQ!

I finished with a 3:54...This was really a"redemption race" for me after having such a bad race last year. I didn't know how to train last year and finished with a 5:04. My main goal was to knock over an hour off of that time and I did it. That hill at the end was very brutal, but I had my problems on the slight incline just before it...I swore my legs were going to collapse and I had to walk for a few seconds to get them back. Besides that everything went good.

Congrats to everyone who made it out there this year, whether you hit your goals or not.  You still braved the course and the challenges it throws your way, and for that alone you are a success.

My race went pretty much as planned - I hoped to stay at 8 min/mi and was there right up until mile 22ish - but still managed to hold things together and come in at 3:35:29, which is 1:48 off my PR and about 5 minutes faster than I was targeting for the race.  Solid effort and I felt great afterward (which is new).  On to the next!!

I saw Jasen come in at the finish as I was waiting for my wife to come in and he looked strong.   Good job man.   My wife made it in 4:11 and destroyed her last marathon time of 5:09.  Amazing what a training plan will do for you.

My wife and I did the 1/2 marathon, but our time of 2:49:57 looks more like your full marathon times. However, we are very pleased with our time. We adhered to a 6 min run/2 min walk until the last mile, which worked well for us. it was a fantastic race! I have never seen so many runners or spectators along the entire course. It was great to run across the finish line together!
