Comments: There is a wading area near the start where racers can float before their start groups. Long trail from the parking area down to the start area is fairly rocky - lots of barefoot folks stepping gingerly. What would you do differently?: I need to work on my crawl stroke - spent the majority of this race on my back due to breathing and a little hesitancy swimming in a pack. Transition 1
What would you do differently?: Gear check - seat height was too low as well. Bike
Comments: This was the portion of the race that I REALLY want back. Due to issues before the race with time management - no gear check. Both tires almost completely out of air. I rode the entire route on flats. What would you do differently?: gear gear GEAR! I need a little guidance on pre-race gear inspections. Transition 2
Comments: Jumping off bike not encouraged as the pavement was wet, course was downhill, and the transition area was 90 degrees from the race route. What would you do differently?: Felt pretty good - need to practice. Run
Comments: Felt very good on the run after such a pain in backside bike. Rain and overcast meant keeping cool was easy. Fluids not much of a problem - drink station at the turnaround point. Turnaround point was a little tight as it was only half of road - but I was separated from most other runners. What would you do differently?: practice transition - run route prior if possible. Very hectic as this was my first tri - and had family issues to deal with as well (grandma/babysitter was a bit late). Because of that, didn't get a good gear check in - paid for it later.
Ate oatmeal, coffee, and water about an hour before start time.
Dynamic stretching, light jogging for about 10 minutes.
