What kit have you used to race your ironman? I'll be doing Texas and expect it to be hot. I have only used a two piece in the past and it was a cheap 2xu entry level kit.

I changed into my favorite bibs for the bike, with a sleeveless tri jersey, then into tri shorts with same jersey for the run.  Wanted  to be as comfortable for the bike and run as I could, and didn't mind the extra couple of minutes to change.

For me, comfort was king. Or queen

I wore my "favorite" everything. For swim and bike my favorite shorts (De Soto 400 mile), bike jersey, for the run my favorite run shorts and run top. Even my favorite socks.

Did all of my long swims, rides and runs in these pieces so I knew they worked for the distance.

Cheap entry level two piece. I had worn them for several half events and so th 140.6 was an easy decision. No problems except it is a sweaty mess afterwards.

I'd stay away from 1 piece for IM distance just because of ease in bathroom stops.

Thanks for your responses thus far. I'm looking for something to try during the HIM and ultimately in Texas 6 weeks after.

I have used 2XU for several years. In IMAZ last november, I used the 2XU two piece compression tri suit and really liked it. I like 2XU although it fits snugly. Good luck.

I don't have much of a choice as I ride for a local shop, so I wear their gear.  This year I'm getting a 2 piece tri suit with a second pair of shorts as well, I hope it's comfortable.

It is a mostly black kit, so if it's REALLY hot, it might be fun, but last summer I didn't have issues in the old, similar looking kit.

2xu tri short and Zoot tri top, all day, that I had raced in previously.  No comfort issues and I didn't have to worry about changing clothes.

First IM, DeSoto Forza Riviera shorts and Zoot top. I love the pad in the DeSoto shorts-second to none-but the seam over my iliac crest rubs me raw every time I go over a couple hours in the shorts.

Second IM, Kiwami Prima shorts and top. I can honestly say that they outfit totally disappeared for the race. I never noticed it once. Pad is minimal, but enough, and felt great for the run. Afterwards I took off my entire kit and had not one raw spot on my body. Immediately went out and bought a second full outfit. Really nice stuff.

I have totally endorsed the DeSoto stuff for several years and will continue to use it in training but when I go long I am going to be wearing Kiwami.

I'm all about Kiwami. I wore there 1 piece tri suit for my IM last month and loved it. Never noticed the suit the entire day, which is the way I prefer. I can't remember the exact style I have, but it's designed for long course. Great suit, great price.

For my First IM I wore a Louis Garneau 2 piece suit for both the swim and bike, then changed to De Soto tri shorts with a looser fitting jersey for the run. My second IM I wore jammers and a sleeveless compression shirt for the swim, then changed do De Soto tri shorts with LG jersey and wore that for both the bike and run. My only complaint wearing the sleeveless compression shirt during the swim was that I got some chaffing around the shoulders. If I do another IM I will probably just wear a 2 piece tri suit for the whole thing.

Swam and rode in my Desoto 400 mile shorts and Desoto full zip Forza top under my wetsuit (zero issues with that).

For the run, I had 2 different outfits in my T2 bag.  I had full run gear (split shorts and singlet) and full tri gear (Desoto Forza shorts and Forza half zip top).

It was heating up pretty quickly at IMFL (was 82 when I started running) so I actually mixed and matched.   I put on my split running shorts and the Desoto Forza tri top.  The desoto top has the skin cooler fabric and works very very well at keeping you cool (if you keep it wet).

I might have looked a little odd with a mix and match kit, but in hindsite, it was the perfect outfit for my race.

Unless you are trying for a KQ or AG award, spend the extra minute and change into dry clothes for the run.  You won't regret it and it just makes you feel good, if even only for a few miles before you are soaked again.

Go with De Soto or Kiwami shorts and wear them all day long.  I like the 400 mile shorts myself.

I've used lower end oomph gear, 2xu, and tyr. I liked the oomph the best with tyr a close second. None of them are budget breakers and I wore them from start to finish. With oomph and 2xU I wore a sleeveless under armour top, tyr was a full kit. ( pad in the 2xu suuuucked)

x2.  Go with 2 piece for IM distance.  Wear it for the entire race. (use it in training to make sure no comfort issues)

Unless you are poopin', not sure how a 2 piece saves you time (for a dude).  I can pull down the front of my desoto bibs faster than I can untie and pull down my desoto shorts. A deuce would take me maybe 15-20 seconds more to take off my top (full zip) and pull down bibs compared with untying shorts and pulling down.

Wear what is comfortable.  It is a 9-17 hour race.  30 seconds means nothing.  Comfort means everything.

Which 2XU kit? I'm curious about the pad in those. I absolutely love the Tyr competitor shorts. Thinking about the carbon or possibly something from 2XU.

Stick w 2 piece. My first IM Lou i changed clothes every time(lost lot of time in transitions). 2nd IM used Kiwami prima tri top and bottom and was fantastic. For 3rd IM LOU I'm using 2 piece champion system kit (apex blade short and apex link top bc sponsored by local team) and so far very pleased. I would encourage u to get used to tri pad if planning on wearing same kit entire time. I hate cycling bibs personally bc the chamois is too big and bulky. If possible I would get 2 tri bottoms (1 to train in and 1 to use on your longest rides and racing. Tri chamois can break down over IM training easily.) Good luck in training and enjoy the journey.
