Getting a vasectomy next month. What's my recovery time looking like for s/b/r?

I'd give it one week for run and swim and two for bike. The more careful you are in the first week the quicker you'll get back to training. Sit around a lot and use frozen peas and don't lift things.

Agree roughly with above.

That said, everyone is different and heals at their own rate.

Ice is your friend.

Glad I won't have to worry about this. If the wife and I have another kid she is getting fixed while under the knife.

Husband had one and was told by the doc to do nothing but sit sit for two days after. I was prepared to do my part and bring him frozen peas, sandwiches, drinks. He scheduled a film shoot that involved him standing all day. He felt fine at the time but had complications that delayed his complete recovery by months and months.

talk to the doc and follow his prescription to the T. Typically recoveries are very conservative so pretty much everybody is going to be ok if the follow the doc's advice. many will be ok with shorter recovery but that can be a gamble.

I was back running after four days and had no complications. I'm thinking that probably wasn't smart and I just got lucky.

I sure did enjoy kicking back while my wife waited on me for a few days, though.

Yeah, I want to add that I know of plenty of guys who did "X" right after and didn't have complications. Just know that doing X will increase the risk. Is this an anatomy part that you really want to take risks with just to prove how manly you are?

per my urology friend.  DO NOT train before you are pain free.  If it is bleeding do NOT train.  If it bleeds into your scrotum then you will be on the couch at least 6 weeks waiting for it to resolve.   IF you bleed after the vas your scrotum will swell to the size of a softball, turn black and you will waddle like a duck for a month  and there is nothing to do about it once it happens.  If you do well the first 96 hours then you should be OK so be good the first 96 hours.  Ask your doc and do what he/she says!

I was on my bike after a week, but I'm a quick healer. One piece of advice...get a Jock strap. Really helps keep everything in place for your first few runs.

I was about the same recovery time for mine. Also second the jock strap.

Is this Heaven? No, it's Iowa.

I know the "bag of peas" has been mentioned a couple of times but it was a total god send to me.  I had mine done on a
Friday and went to a Halloween party the next day.  Too soon for much activity.

I stayed off my bike for 3 weeks because is was after my season was over.  You will know the moment you get on the saddle if it is too soon.  Take your time and when the incision heals, it will be time to go into the pool.

I got back on the bike after a week and things didn't turn out so well. I think I ended up being off the bike for over a month. Back then, I was only mountain biking ant jogging and hadn't swum a lap yet.

The other thing to avoid is the kids jumping on your junk while you are laying on the couch being waited on. I recall having to avoid some cannonballs though the kids supposedly had no idea I was hurting.

I perform them and have had one. Trust the advice above. Take it easy. The complications can be impressive and will knock you out of training for weeks.

Man I took a serious guilt free TV marathon session. Ice on the jewels, beer in hand, remote in the other. Only problem was putting something down to snap my fingers for more. jk

You have heard the stories of guys who go too early and have probs. I'd stay away from running for prob a week. Bike for 2. Swim could be nbd after a couple days.

Do not cycle home afterwards because the anesthetic is still working and you might as well get an extra work-out in.  A guy did this when I was working in a clinic in Edinburgh, we had him back the next day in tears.
