Raced a bit hungry. Took a Roctane Gel about 20 mins pre-start.

Warmed up for about a mile. No strides (oops). Stretched well.

Felt dead. SteveQ said I looked the worst of anyone sub-5. He was right.

I was in dead last place for about half the race. Then passed 1 guy as we were both falling off the pack. Then passed 1 more. Dead.
What would you do differently?:

More speed-work leading up to the race.

Jogged about 3/4 mile. Stretched a bit.
