jonD81 - 2013-02-01 8:27 PM I like intervals.  I just have fun with them.  I don't know why.  I'd much rather do an hour of those instead of 45 minutes of gradual increasing difficulty like Long Scream.  Two more days and the suffering is over.  As sick as it sounds, I'd love it if they did some organized Tour like this more often.

Well good thing The Long Scream is only 30 minutes then! Anyway, what do you think of the other larger blocks? They all have attacks and noticeable variation. Say The Wretched, for one example. TLS is kind of an acquired taste, if one develops it at all.

Did stage 8 tonight, that makes 5 work outs in 48 hrs for a combined TSS of 485.

Not sure if I'm gonna be able to finish up the tour tomorrow...but I'm glad I only have one to go.

I had to get Stage 8 done early, as we're driving over to New Hampshire to meet a dog we might adopt. I normally sleep in a bit later on Saturdays, but my alarm went off at 4am like any other day. I just laid there trying to convince myself that I could sneak away later today to get this done.

But I got up. I had to run these two at 90%. Between this stupid cold I've picked up and my legs, I needed a reachable goal. Thankfully, that allowed me to hit the marks.

N Power = 197, 212

Blech.

Seems like your morning is like mine.  Up at 4AM as well as I have to go to Flagstaff to get a cab on my truck for the dogs.  Those 1min intervals were tough.  Tomorrow I will sleep in before getting that last stage in though.  then I am giving away my trainer

Stage 8 is done thankfully, that was by far the hardest stage for me.  Those 1 min intervals are just relentless.  The end is in sight!

Stage 8 in the books, I'm going to finish with 100% FTP at 280 the whole way. If only there was a prize for going that hard!

Done.  Ouch.  Revolver was the hardest stage for me.  Did most of the Tour at 90%, and could usually hang on in the later stages.  But not Revolver.  There was still a little left, but I was thinking about Local Hero today.  Maybe that was my downfall.

But, managed to ride out Local Hero at 100%.  Didn't quite get there all the time, but was better than 90%

Im guessing the fact I had to restart after half of there is not try really didnt help. Hope everyone else has fun with this stage

Stage 8 done.  There Is No Try @ 97% felt surprisingly good....and then I started Revolver (also at 97%) and even part way through the warm-up interval, my legs started feeling heavy.  I was having visions of what the rest of the ride was going to look like given that the warm-up was brutal.

Somehow managed to hit at or above my power targets for all except two of the intervals, despite my legs trying to talk me into quitting.  Seriously, shut up, legs!!

One more stage!  I'm glad I took this challenge on, but my legs are looking forward to a short break come next week!

Really stage 8?  That was all types of brutal.  Every one of those intervals during Revolver I wondered how I got the power up there, but I think I did every single time.  Those double rides are something else though.  You can't even get excited at the end of the first ride because you know you have another entire beating waiting for you.

I'm prolonging the agony today. Just spent some time doing on-leash work with the new dog we brought home. Now I'll eat and watch my Sunday morning TV line-up (news junkie) before finishing this thing up.

My screen name refers to the fact that I've been involved with St. Bernard rescue for some time. We just put one of our boys down shortly after his 12th birthday, which is a very long life for a St. And we were left with our Newfoundland who also came to us through the rescue organization. We were going to be a one-dog family when we learned of a Great Pyrenees needing a home. A stray from Kentucky by way of New Hampshire rescue who hasn't had any obedience work of any sort (a specialty of mine). Here's a fuzzy pic:

Those are some great looking dogs. We also have two rescues though much smaller...a husky and german shepherd/chow mix.

Done.

The final two stages were @90% and I didn't want to be on the bike for one minute of today's ride. This cold is kicking my arse.

But I'm done. Looking forward to beers this afternoon and a rest day tomorrow.

Done.  What an awesome time.  I've never biked so much in life.  Literally.  I've only done one Tri and just started seriously training this year.  Just doing 9 days of tri specific training in a row is huge for me, never mind this soul-melting-leg-crushing type of work out.  Psyched I could stick with it the whole way.  Did 100% the entire time, although like someone else said I'm guessing I'm only at 90-95% of my true FTP, although I did raise it 5 points the day before the tour started.  Regardless, can't wait to not bike tomorrow.  Congrats everyone on toughing it out and good luck on the prizes!
