Subject: question about course cut-off times.
Could some one tell me how long I have to complete my 69 mile bike? Does 5 hours mean I have 5 hours or is it 5 - 1.5 = 3.5 hours to complete bike course?

Course Cut-offs
Course cut-off times are subject to change based on the safety of the course. Historically, we have not had cutoffs, however due to the safety, cost and potential impact on the surrounding community, local businesses, our staff and the park, we must adhere to the following guidelines. Thank you!

Swim – 1:15 hours from last swim wave
Bike – 5 hours from last swim wave
Run – 8 hours from last swim wave

I would interpret that as 5 - 1.25 or 3.75 hours. But, are you really going to take 1:15 minutes to finish the swim? If you finish the swim in :45, then you have 5 - 0.75 or 4.25 hours. If you aren't in the last swim wave, you have even more time since they measure the cutoff from the start of the last swim wave, not from your start time.

If this is a true HIM, you should only need to bike 56 miles.

Leadman 125 Tempe?

http://www.leadmantri.com/page/show/291477-course

"The 125-kilometer course begins with a 2.5-kilometer swim in Tempe Town Lake. Next, athletes will embark on a flat and fast 111.5-kilometer bike through the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community. Participants will finish with a scenic 11-kilometer trail run through Papago Park"

As little as 3hr 30min, as much as 5+ hours.

If you are in the last swim wave (or any wave really) and get out of the water just before the swim cut-off (1hr 15min after the last swim wave starts).  You then have 3hr 45min to finish both T1 and the bike.  So assuming a long T1 the time you would have is around 3hr 30mins.

If, say you start your swim wave at 7:00am but the last swim wave doesnt start until 8:00am.  Swim course would close at 9:15, bike course will close at 1:00pm.  If you finish your swim and T1 within an hour, you would then have 5 hours to do the bike.

Wave start times will be released by the race director closer to the event.  I've only done one wave start race so cant comment on the usual order but that race was pro's first, then people assumed to be on the course longer, going towards those who were assumed to be on the course the least amount of time (ending with M35-39).

Thank you all! Yes, I will be doing the Leadman 125 Tempe. I am a slow swimmer but my fastest time in a pool was 2840 Yards in 60 minutes. I should be faster with a wet suit if I don't go off course to much. 69 miles on the bike will take me at least 4:30 hours.
