Does anyone go?  I think it's M,W....with the advanced group at 6:30pm and the intermediate group at 7:30pm.  And I think they swim on Fridays as well.  Is there a cost to joining the group?  The flyer at LTF didn't say...

I attended one masters swim at Novi a year or so ago as a trial. At that time it was like $30 per month so I would assume it's still something similar at all clubs.

For anyone interested:  I dropped in last night on the maters swim class at the LTF in Rochester.  They hold an advanced class on M/W from 6:30pm-7:30pm and an intermediate class from 7:30pm-8:30pm.  They also offer a swim on Fridays at 9am.  It is $34/month.

In the intermediate class, we only went about 1500 meters.  Fun workout though...I enjoyed it.

I have only swam with the Troy LTF masters - they have a good program.  I am training differently this year and not swimming in training until May or so, but if I was in a pinch for a good workout - they do good.

Miss your smile PrettyWOODS!!!

Cool. I've swum with them off-and-on for a while...more off than on. It's a good workout, and good people. Mostly triathletes, and not intimidating at all. The workouts are not too bad by swimmer standards, but great for most triathletes.

Two other quick things...I explained to the COD that I travel a lot, and could only get to 1 or 2 workouts per month, but didn't want to pay the monthly rate...and they were more than willing to set up a 'punch pass' arrangement, where you pay by the swim.

Other thing...if you're looking for a hardcore masters' swim, it's either down in Dearborn at FAST, or at Oakland U.

I am very curious about it, but I assume you have to have a LTF membership + the "$34/month'...  What distance/pace do they do in the advanced?

Your assumption is correct...you need to be a member and pay the additional $34/mth to participate.  I'll check out the advanced class on Tuesday to see how far and fast they go.

Troy's is on Mon and Wed from 7:30pm to 8:30pm.  Then on Sat from 8am to 9am.  Mellissa Lehman is the contact - 248.267.6623.  I'm thinking of checking out the Sat morning session.

Hmm...maybe I'll see you there on Saturday morning.  I'd like to get in a swim this weekend.

Jon - the advanced group swims between 2000-2500 meters.  One of the advanced swimmers said that it's hard to get more than that done in an hour.  A sustained 100 meter freestyle pace of 1:45/100 would put you in their 2nd lane.  The fast guys, I assume, are closer to 1:30 or less per 100.  I would say that upwards of 75% of the advanced swimmers do flip turns.

The intermediate group swims between 1000-1500.  Both groups spend a lot of time on other strokes as well...breast, back, fly.
