4 loops on that course reminded me of the Ultra I did in February. Glad I did the 70.3.

If they race the early bird price I would definitely not do the race again, at least not the half.

All in all, it was a good race. No, it wasn't on par with a WTC event, but then again I spent 75 to do a 70.3 (I mainly signed up since it was my birthday weekend...I have a weird way of celebrating).

My only qualm with the race was that I did not see one official on the bike. Drafting happens at every race, but if you know there isn't going to be an official on the course, then you know you can get away from it (like the few people I spoke to that did the race last year as well as this year....they openly admitted to drafting).

I really have tremendous respect for the full distance athletes. It was a lonely course out there.

I was pleased with the race (I did the full).  I lived off the course except for one Clif bar at the bike halfway point.  I registered early, and thought I go my money's worth ($150) definitely!

This said, if what they did for Naples holds true for Ocala, they're going to be raising the early entry fee from $150 to $300.  Doubtful if it's worth that much, IMHO.

Agreed. If I am gonna do an full distance, I'll pay more for a bigger party scene. Same for the half.

Seconded. I signed up for IMFL just because of the atmosphere. I only did the OLY distance in Ocala but was there Saturday evening around 7 and saw some of the full finishers. I get chills watching the finish of an Ironman race online and in person at the HITS nothing (expect for the respect to the athletes) I have no idea how someone was able to finish that full. Honestly even if they doubled the price for the half to $150 I'd still pay it. Even at $150 it's cheaper than my local 70.3 and just as well, if not better, run.
