Subject: beat a 6 year old PR for a 5K !

Ran the Penguin Pace 5K this morning -- it's a tough, hilly course. I wasn't expecting to PR and honestly I couldn't remember what my 5K PR even was .. it's been a while

I finished this year in 22:59.25/ 7:24 pace! (Last year on the same course - 24:59/ 8:08 pace)

I checked my PRs.... my 5K PR is was 23:07 - set in 2007! Beat it by 7 seconds !

The weight loss, the consistency (1700+ miles last year), and speed work are paying off !

(sadly, I finished 5th in my AG ... I thought I would have finished "3rd" because the top 2 women in my AG were the overall female winners, but the race only did 1 overall man and woman, and then 3 deep in each 10 year AG, so I was officially 4th .. AND I would have finished first in 20-29 oh well!)

Nice work! I do have to admit that I read your thread title a " I beat a 6 year olds pr". I'm thinking, big deal, I can out run a 6 year old.

Nice! Congrats on the PR. You crushed your time from last yearI know the feeling of finishing 4th or 5th in the 30-34 AG, and realizing I would have won the 25-29. What a difference a year makes.

Congratulations on the PR!  I also read this as "beat a 6 year old at a 5k" at first.  The real title is way better.

Also, your little guy is getting so big! What a cutie!!

Good job!  That's fantastic that you're setting a PR so early in the season, too.  You'll have a killer base going into the year!

The bar is set now!!!   PR'ing in a 5K is a great thing, especially considering it was a 5 year old PR.  Awesome job!!
