Comments:

I haven't ran a race this short really never so this was a good test of where I am today. I have definitely been running, but really doing no speedwork and the thought of keeping 6:30s didn't exactly sit well in my head. I chased my coach Jorge around the entire day - ya the 33+ minutes, and lets just say, it hurt. I am not really used to running that uncomfortable so it was a great learning experience for me and one we will build on. Nothing like having someone screaming at you every half mile to keep pushing or push harder when you already think you are half dead. We started off right on pace but I just kept falling off. Not a great race, but I left it all out there, so live and learn and move on. I am happy with my ability to shut my brain off and not killing Jorge for his smart ass remarks along the way. I should probably thank him here for waiting for me and helping me push the entire time ... there is way more speed to come. Time to really make that run/bike combo lethal ;)

Nice work, Jana. The short hard stuff is always a challenge, especially when focusing the season on longer distances. However, if you get comfortable running these short races quickly, the slower pace of a HIM run won't feel all that bad.
