While at the pool today I realized that it was exactly one year ago today that I took My first swimming lesson 6 weeks of instruction before that I couldn't swim at all after the 6 weeks it's been all on my own. I have really been putting a lot of effort in at the pool since Sept hitting the pool between 4 and 6 times a week, working hard on form bilateral breathing and endurance and while improving a lot I am still running right around 50 /55 second  per 50M. well today I decided to give it heck just to see what I could do so I did a bunch of fast 50's on 30 seconds rest the first set 6 X50M set I did between 40 and 42 sec per 50M, took a 2 min rest then I did a 300M straight swim took a 2  minute break and did another 6 x50M fast set the second set was between 45 and 47 seconds/50M,  Back at work now My shoulders are on fire  but man did that sure feel awesome to do that.

I guess that there Might be hope  that I will get this swimming thing down, Lordy Lordy  I might just become a real swimmer Yet .Laughing

Great to see you stretching yourself to see what's possible. And taking the time to look back and see all you've done in a relatively short amount of time. So what's the next challenge that you set for yourself?

My first  full sprint last year was 1:27 :21, 4th in AG and missed the podium by 2:22 but 7 min was transistions so  I am shooting for a 1:20:00 or below, sometime this year. My swim is better and so is my Bike so I think it will be a question of staying healthy and uninjured and getting the transistion times down to a reasonable number. But that's my target for the year.

That is some serious committment to training! 6 days a week is hardcore.

Sounds like its definitely paying off.

Well done.

Nice job!  It sounds like the podium is within reach.  I wish I could swim that fast.

Wow RRH, that's remarkably fast for someone that has only been swimming for a year! Think where you will be a year from now! Congrats!

I suggest you check 2013 USA Swimming 10 and under age group National Motivational Times before you fire up a statement like that.
