In my experience, I hardly ever use my tech shirts from MSC races. Perhaps it is because the only time I would ever use it is if I was doing a stand-alone run in the summer (I do lots of bricks with tri-tops). Also, I have a couple of other branded tech shirts that are superior to my MSC tech shirts that I always choose first.

I prefer tech shirts too, but it won't be a deciding factor in doing or not doing a race. Hoping to make it to Woodstock for the first time this year, and a repeat at Lakeside.

I'm always up for a new shirt, however being a plus-sized competitor, they rarely fit well and I usually have to go out and buy my own anyway.  I'd rather spend money on a shirt than a hat, so i'm delighted to have a "free" hat coming my way! Although I love wearing hats (and NEED to wear them), I hate spending money on hats, but always need another one to replace the gross overused ones.  I am however, only doing one race in this series this year, so its not like i'm going to be getting 6 hats or anything.  My perspective may be different from others in that regard.

Go Faster, you are correct and the registration page was worded incorrectly. It was that way because we had originally thought of capturing race finish times for all races. We eventually think we may set up wave starts that way, as mentioned in the newsletter. We made a last minute decision to reduce the time required for our customers in online registration by removing this step for the other races. We have changed the wording and hope it is more clear.

To Bopper, carriecook and all of the positive posters, thank you for the kind words and support of the series. I actually means a lot to me/us.

Oscar,

You wanted to know how the shirts would sell. Early days yet but almost 50% are opting for the shirt purchase. We are also now offering them for sale on the site because people who are not racing in a certain race would like to buy a particular design. I can tell you the response so far has been extremely positive. I can also tell you that makes me breath a little easier.

MORE IMPORTANTLY! I promised we would see if we could accommodate your shirt request. We did not forget you but Jan has ben very busy and looking through old inventory is not so easy when it is at the bottom of the pile. The bad news, no Binbrook from last year. The good news, we found you a Toronto Island Medium. Please email me and I will connect you with Jan.

We try and take care of our customers.

I am with you - i am happy with a shirt or hat or whatever.  It's usually more about the fit or style that will dictate if I wear it or not.  Women's Smalls tend go quickly so i've ended up with lots of ill-fitting shirts that I don't wear.  I've gotten hats that I really liked and wear all the time - and others that didn't (particularly disappointed the year I did Muskoka 70.3 and they must have had a misprint but I got one that said 'Race Winner' - so not true - and the beak was not a good fit for my face and I never wear it).  I have quite a collection now but it can be quite hit or miss as to what will actually be worn.

John,

The news about the shirt sales is terrific.  I am happy to be proven wrong in this instance.

I'll email you about Toronto Island from last year.  Like I said before, you didn't have to do that.  But I truly do appreciate it, and my next profile picture will feature an MSC race shirt Laughing

I wouldn't mind an old fashioned cotton shirt. I only wear the high tech stuff to train. A shirt I could just wear anytime would be cotton.

John,

Just wanted to let you know I LOVE the hats. I had mentioned the only hat I ever got that looked good was back in 2005 (am still wearing it) but am happy to say that I now have 2 hats!! Can't wait to get my next one in Huronia.

Best regards,

Anne

Thanks Anne. That is nice to hear. We have added several questions for athletes in our post-race survey asking what they would like to see in future. We always ask and really do listen. See you in Huronia.

Thanks again!

About the hats - my wife prefers that I wear my MSC hat from Binbrook over the "ugly other hat" received at a running race, so that's good. As hats go, I like it too. I'll be getting another hat (or two, depending on how I feel about doing both days on the Island) this year so I should be good for hats for a while.

Also - thanks again for the shirt from last year - I promise to get a picture in it soon and replace my profile pic. Perhaps with the hat, too.
