Subject: Garmin Forerunner 305 replacement?

Expensive ride this morning when my Garmin ended up falling to the road and getting crunched by the car that was behind me!

Any suggestions for what I should replace it with? Its a few years since I've looked into this stuff. Would be great to have something a little less chunky than the 305, and something I can use for swimming as well as cycling and running. Also needs to do cadence etc. on the bike and have availability of decent bike mounts!!

Any suggestions????

Yeah, DC Rainmaker has the most in-depth reviews I've seen of gadgets. While you are there check out the Timex Global Trainer. I'm thinking about getting one next year.

No dought if you have the Cash the 910XT is the way to go, if cash is a bit tight then the 310XT is an option

I replaced my 305 with a 310xt. it's a bit old school these days I guess but I've been really happy with it. Tremendously longer batter life(20 hours), you can swim with it, and it's a bit lower profile than the 305. The other nice feature is the wireless capability when transferring data and it doesn't require a cradle to charge. Much much cheaper than the 910xt too.

There are a lot of options that aren't Garmin.  I just got a Megellan Switchup at a price I couldn't resist, just because, and it does it all.  Came in yesterday and I took it for a run and happy with it.

a bit less than the 910.

They had a killer sale on amazon.ca, for 100 bucks, which was just too good to pass up.  Not sure if they are trying to get market share or if you can still find a similar deal.

Garmin 310XT

Timex Global Trainer

Both are great options for what you are looking for. The Timex does not have all of the accessories that the Garmin does. Personally, I don't see the benefit of paying the extra money for for the Garmin 910, but that is just me. I was really really tempted this spring, and the reviews have been great, but I am sticking with the 310.
