OK, in all seriousness, this will be very interesting. I think we have only done one or two races together (Triangle a few years ago for one...not sure of any others!). I think I got you on the swim, but you will take me on the run. Bike should be roughly the same...so where do you run me down? And do you mock me as you fly by? qrkid did that once...oh no, wait, he did it twice in one race!

So you two are the only ones racing right? Can I watch? Seriously Louiskie, you and I have raced together at least twice and you have stomped me badly, so there won't be much smack talking coming from me. But if it's not too much trouble, Can I have your autograph? B-)

My money's on fgump. The better runner can chase down the better swimmer.

That course is unforgiving, though.

No matter what happens, hope you guys have a good time!

Who ever said smack talking had anything to do with results :-) Smack-talk all you like bud...the more the merrier! Sorry, I never meant to imply fgump and I are the only ones racing at all. Now I know you are racing we will have to meet up at the race.

d00d, where's the love!? But I fear you are right. Runners have too much fun running down the swimmers. Fortunately I have swum twice in 5 months, so I am not much of a swimmer! Oh wait, thats not how it works at all! :-)

all I can say is that if any of you were actually men, you would be racing 2 weeks prior to Beaverdam and doing White Lake HIM with me.

Oh this will be fun. My last time in the water was September. I'm going to need 5:00 miles to even be in Louis's zip code ...9/26, 1000m. Oh yeah, real ugly.

I like to keep things interesting d00d. Why do 70.3 when you can so an even 74?

Can I jump in this thread? No smack talk here. But, can someone give me an idea how the bike course is? I'll be honest, I've been on the trainer this winter but I have been focusing more on the run since I just did a HM and wanted to PR on that. So, I feel like I've got the swim and run taken care of but that bike course...I just don't know. My considering either doing this race or White Lake on 5/4 - right now I'm leaning toward White Lake because it's so flat. Thanks for any feedback you can provide!

We need some warm weather soon or this swim may be a bit chilly. 30 degree nights equals cold lake water

Well, I just registered for BD.  I had been planning on on racing White Lake but I now have a date conflict with that one.  I raced BD last year and I don't remember the water temp being too much of a problem.  USGS is reporting that water temp is about 56 degrees right now.

We're hoping with some nice weather the water will get in the low 60's like it has been for the last few years. I recommend renting/buying a wetsuit for the race and using wax for your ears, booties for your feet.

This event will be a great test to see how your training is going for IM RAL 70.3!

Use this link to check daily water temps at BVD - currently 61 degrees and rising!

Swam in Falls lake yesterday. Temps werent bad at all. The bigger issue was the disgusting layer of yellow pollen covering the entire lake. Yummy!

Rode it yesterday and would classify it as tough 2nd half. Ghoston has a killer climb on it, then there are mean rollers on 50 before the park turn-in. Front half could be fast though. A LOT of traffic on New Light Rd. Run course just looks mean. Big hills. Rest up. Oh and the lake just looks nasty. Completely pollen-covered.

I swam there on Sat. morning. Water felt brisk for the first 500ish out and def made the HR spike. I was only in a sleeveless suit, but warmed up as I trudged on.

The pollen disperses when you swim so its not that bad.

Hopefully the water warms up a bit for you guys on race day.
