I am flying to Chicago in 2 weeks to scope the area for a possible work move. I will be looking at areas that are 20-30 miles from downtown.

Curious if there is an area that has a particularly strong triathlon culture? ie; tri club, aquatic centers, tri shop, spin classes, etc.. I realize this is pretty broad, question, but any insight would be really appreciated. Thanks, Paul

Huge tri cultures around St. Charles area and the Naperville area in particular.  But most of Chicagoland is accessable.  I run rides for Lifetime fitness in Romeoville.  We ride out in the Naperville/Plainfield area and people come in from the city to do our rides.

Awesome and really appreciate this. Naperville has come up quite a bit, so I will definitely be checking that out.

Hello....do you have a schedule for your rides.  I would definitely be interested in joining.  Thanks!

I'm in the near west burbs myself, but you can't go too wrong anywhere in Chicago. North, west, south, in the city, there's a tri culture of some sort everywhere. Tons of great tri-specific shops, great places to ride (check out the recent thread in the IL state section), lots of tri clubs, not too bad on places to swim, fitters, coaches, etc.. I'm just getting started and have never once thought "gee, I wish I had more resources for triathlon in the Chicago area." lol

Every Sunday at 8:30am.  We start at Commissioners park at 111th and Rt 59.  Helmet and road bike required.  We'll probably start up again in April.  For more information check out the LTF website Romeoville location.
