Set Up Events
35F / 2C
Total Time = 24m 1s
Overall Rank = 45/233
Age Group = 55- 60
Age Group Rank = 5/19
Pre-race routine:

Generation UCAN, half banana.
Event warmup:

Jogged for 10 -15 minutes, wall stretches, hamstrings, side to sides.
  • 24m 1s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 43s  min/mile

The verdict is still out on the UCAN, but I will still give it a couple more months of checking it out. I didn't have the energy level I normally do at the halfway point on a 5K but it might be because I was still recovering from the flu.
What would you do differently?:

Might eat a bagel with some peanut butter next round. I was trying to rely solely on the UCAN and that might have been a mistake.
Post race
Warm down:

Light stretches and talked with Jeff Shafer and his son. Jeff finished with an average of 7:01 a mile.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Still being slightly sick, at least that might be it.

Event comments:

Cool Breeze did a nice job and the Rubber Maid folks gave away a very nice bottle with a filter in the top. Nice touch!

My average HR was fine, but with the hills I hit 160. But it takes a hill for my HR to get up that high.
Course: Nice course four hills. Support was great.
