Subject: Placement of big workouts?
The way I see it, I have 3 workouts a week that are my biggest in volume. My long run, long bike, and brick (race simulation). I work M-F. Currently I do my long run on Wednesdays, long bike on Saturdays (most friendly for group rides if I choose to participate), and brick on Sundays. My question is whether there is a different way to structure the days of these workouts or when does everyone do these workouts?

I currently do my long run on Saturday and long ride on Sunday.  When the days start getting a little longer I'll switch my long run to Thursday which from a training standpoint is better for me.  I've started adding a 30 minute run to my long bike.

When training long I only do two really long workouts a week.  I alternate weeks.  One week I will do a long ride on Saturday and then on sunday to a 1 hour ride and medium/long run brick workout.  The next weekend I will do a medium long bike with about an hour run off the bike (sometimes a little more if I'm training for an IM) brick workout and then on Sunday do a long run.  For my last IM, my biggest weekends were: Saturday - 180 km run, sunday 1 hour ride, 25 km run and the next weekend was a 1 hr swim followed later in the day by a 140 km ride/15 km run.  so still getting in lots of bricks, lots of long runs and lots of long rides while only needing two long workout days.

That's pretty much exactly what I do.  My sat/sun rides are long...follow up sunday with a run though.

Just do the workouts whenever you have time.  

Personally I do my long ride Saturday followed by a long run Sunday.  I personally do not like to flip flop those.  I am a strong runner so I like to be my freshest for the bike where I know I need more/better work.  I also like to do my long run on tired legs (especially for long course training) to help the body get used to running on tired legs. 

Saturdays long ride is usually a brick.  My shortest ride of the week also usually a brick.

I like to do a long run during the week, and a long ride on the weekend. If the long bike and run can be split up, that works the best. But not everyone is able to do that.

If they have the time then this is exactly  how I build my athletes out each week. I like to split the long run and long bike/brick in order to get a good quality run workout in each week. With the longest run coming in at 2:30 it is easier to get the long run in during the week (especially during the summer months since you can run before and after work). Make sure not to schedule anything important on Monday morning though

I do long rides on Saturday, sometimes followed by a run. Sundays are always my long runs, sometimes proceeded by a short ride, sometimes followed by a swim. If I'm really looking for extra run miles i might do 6-10 before work and the same after. I find that it's largely about getting the distance in consistantely each week, I'm not as fussed about schedule

My schedule is much like yours.  Long run Weds morning, long bike Saturday and brick on Sunday.  I like a couple of days between my long run and long bike -- as much mental as physical.
