Subject: Good used 50 CM Bike

I am trying to help my 13 year old get into Triathlons this summer.  He competed in 3 last summer and has the bug.

I am trying to find a good, used Tri Bike for him to use for a couple of years.

I tried the Bicycle Exchange when I was in Wichita last week.  No luck.

I am not a bike guy (I'm a runner) so do not even know enough to be dangerous.  Your help is appreciated.

Hopefully someone more informed will offer up more advice, but one thing you might research is whether Junior Events allow aerobars.  If I recall from last years Ironkids event in KC a parent was rather upset when the RD stated the rules do not allow aerobars.

If that is the case a road bike may be the better choice and availability of used bikes more abundant.

Agree on a road bike. The kids tri's in this area don't allow aero bars or disk wheels. Get a road bike!
