OK, let's start a thread about this race and get as many suckers triathletes to do it as possible!

I'm in and looking forward to seeing how I do, compared to 2009 when I raced this as my first HIM!

Very interested to know who else in racing!

I plan on signing up... it'll be my last tri of the year before switching to Cyclocross starting early Oct. Here's to hoping for cooler temps like this past year!

I'm still undecided.  I'm doing IM Canada 5 weeks prior but I should be fine to do Augusta.  It's hard to not do it when it is right here where I live.

Most likely in as a tune up for IMFL.  Looking for places to stay now.  The price gouging of these crappy hotels is making my stomach turn.  i may be sleeping in my car!

I'm doing IMTX and I'm waiting to see how I feel after that. I want to do it, I just don't know if I'll want to train through the summer months post ironman...

I'm considering it.  The heat is what worries me most.  I bake in hot/humid weather

Posting an update to get back on top and also to check in and see how training is going for everyone.

I completed Peachtree City Sprint the other week as a training session in 1:23 and had some of my best splits of recent (even without a taper). I finally also completed a 2 hour run this past weekend for the first time after a long bike ride on Saturday. so training seems to be coming in well...

this is only my 2nd season and my first HIM...so starting to get excited...6 hours is my stretch target and still thinking it may be in reach...

How is everyone else doing in prep for Augusta?

I'm doing well but wish I could have gotten in more open water swims and more time on the bike. The weekends are really the only time I can get on the bike and for a long stretch there it felt that it was always raining hard when I was able to go out. I would do spin classes for 75 - 90 minutes focused on 90-95 rpm at a resistance that felt similar to the bike when on flats with some hard resistance for climbing mixed in. Not a perfect substitute for being on the bike but it is better than nothing.

My running is where I am most pleased. Last year I thought it was crazy to run even a 5K and this past weekend I ran 12 miles at a pace similar to my 4 mile runs. Had plenty left in the tank for more but got tired of circling around because I miscalculated my route so I stopped at 12. I'm at 92 miles so far this month and will come close to 100 for August.

My goals are as follow:
1. Finish
2. Finish sub-6 hrs
3. Stretch goal of sub 5:30

Training has come along great! My real goal is B2B full, but am just as stoked to race Augusta this year.

Good luck to all of you that are racing this year, especially those of you racing a HIM for the first time!

If you have any questions on the race, post them here, or go to the Augusta facebook page for TONS of info and support.

Regarding the bike course, when i look at race splits from prior year, i see the second half is slower than first half...assuming those hills on the profile in the second half are the cause... however, after that, looks like a down hill grade back into transition...Any insight or advise for tackling the bike course? unfortunately, i have not had a chance to get out to augusta and preride.

From what I remember in 2009, the first 15 miles are fast, the middle 20 are rollers, and the last 15-20 are super fast!

Broken collar bone 6 weeks out from the start. Still in a sling but hoping I can make a one arm down river swim and hang in there for the rest. My dreams up going sub 5 are definitely out the window.
