Subject: Two races in two weeks
Hi,
I have two races within two weeks of each other, a local Olympic on April 21st, and my A race, a 1/2 ironman on May 4th. Do you think I should taper for the first or just treat it as my last hard training session before my A race taper? Do you think if I go hard in the first race (bragging rights in front of friends who are doing their first race) I have time to fully recover before the next race? Any advice on the taper, race or training would be appreciated.
Neil

you should be fine in terms of recovery.

You might consider riding additional after the Oly to get in a full 56 on the bike. But depends on how you feel. This would be your last weekend to get in the full distance for the HIM.

I probably wouldn't feel like doing much after any race, I just know people that do this if they have another race, as you do.

recovery for a few days, and bring it back on during the following week pretty fast with swimming, cycling mainly.

the following weekend would be tapering.
