So I know in SL Co the best place for an OWS is probably Blackridge Reservoir (or whatever they call it) in Herriman, right? When does it get warm enough? I have a wetsuit, but this will be my first time swimming in it (Christmas present).

Training for Daybreak, my first OWS tri.

Last year I swam in the Herriman reservoir in May.  It was cold, but with the wetsuit just fine.

Blackridge has gained a reputation for delayed opening by the city.  After last years improvements, hopefully, that will not be the case this year.

As well, depending on where you live in the valley, East Canyon is just as close.  However, you can't get in that until late May (and it's still a bit chilly).
People get in Bountiful Pond quite early too.  But, I'm not sure they would pass a psych eval

It appears as though we may have a group heading out to Blue Lake in mid-April (no wetsuit needed)

My fave place to go, and starting Mid-May we have a group that goes weekly to Pineview Resevior. Granted, most of us live in Weber and Davis County, but it is SOOO much better than Bountiful Pond. That is just plain disgusting.  I have heard good things about East Canyon, but never swam there myself.  Where is Blue Lake and when are people going?

I've been in Bountiful Pond already this year, it's been cold, but it's better than nothing.

I just can't bring myself to get a car to drive out somewhere when Bountiful Pond is a nice easy bike ride away.

I may try hitting Blackridge on Saturday, probably around 10:30-11:00... anyone want to try it with me?

I don't know the current water temps, but I do know that the reservoir may not be full yet. They put in restrooms and a snack shack over the winter (not sure when those open for the season, but it's not likely that it's open yet). They just started pumping water from the supply canal into blackridge this week, so I don't know how high the water level will be. They also installed some aerators and pulled the algae forest that was growing in it last summer. Hopefully this year it will be alot nicer than it was last year. Because it was a stinky, weeds wrapping around your feet as you swam kind of place last summer.

If anyone heads up there, let us all know how it is (and if it's open)!
