Run
Comments: I was running really well and easy through to 8 miles at a pace to crush 2:05, but then started to get some sporadic calf cramping in mile 8. I kept running through it without much problem, but it started to get more frequent and more intense. During mile 10 it got so bad it made my toes curl under and brought me to a complete stop. I started taking Gatorade and walked the water stops from 10.5 to the end. Other than the water-stop walks I ran it all in, but it hurt... a lot What would you do differently?: I'm thinking I needed to be doing more with my electrolytes, both yesterday and during the race. But, since I didn't have any cramping problem during training, it wasn't something I thought I would have to deal with. More training at, or near, race pace. Wish I had local terrain that was more like the race course. Post race
Warm down: pain, cramping, gasping and swearing; eventually, brunch What limited your ability to perform faster: severe cramping! Last updated: 2012-12-10 12:00 AM
