Ooo...cheap cheap!  Too bad I have a nearly brand new set (road them for two races) that I won't get to ride at all really for the next year...so I'm not in the market for tires anytime soon!

But for those that ARE...buy these...that is definitely a good deal!

Looks like they're out, but that was a killer deal.  I think TireManiacs dot com have them for around $41 a piece, with free shipping.  The guy who runs the site (Martin) has given me probably the best customer service I have ever received from an online store.  He runs a small operation, just selling high-end tires (mainly Conti's and Schwalbe, my personal favorite) and high-end bike shoes, at great prices.  I'm not affiliated with them in any way - just giving my 2-thumbs-up to a local guy with great prices and customer service.

For those of us not well versed in differences yet between the tires, would these be considered "racing" tires, training tires, or both?

They are excellent all around tires, and since they work well as racing tires they're best used in that application. My training tires are the ones I got suckered into buying from my friends' LBS, or ones I destroyed slowly on the trainer.

I managed to grab a set of Michelin Pro 4's for $68, and they come with free tubes.  Sweet.  They were out of stock on the latex tubes, I was going to buy a few.

Thanks for posting!

I use them for both for two reasons, firstly the roads where I ride are rough and prone to being covered in large amounts of cr@p and these tires are fairly puncture resistant, and secondly I'm not a good enough rider to warrant having a separate set of race tires so I just use the one set.

Here is my suggestion:

If you have one set of wheels for both training and racing, use Conti GP4000s.

If you have a dedicated set of race only wheels, use PR4s, or better yet, consider sewups.

Do the 700 x 25's ever go on sale?  Looking to try these, and get the best price.  Still looking, but so far the beat price is in the low 40's

Just wondering if there are any advantages of the 700 x 25 vs 700x23c that I'm running now. I just got back from a ride and realized it is really time for me to get new tires. Are the Conti GP 4000s better than the gatorskins? BTW I race and train on the same set of tires

Just picked up 2 Conti gp4000s for $68 after $3 coupon (3free) + free shipping. If you need tires this is a great deal and you should definitely hop on this deal before they are gone. ***One poster above said they were out but they still have them in stock.

Being a heavier rider, I like how the 700 x 25's ride.  My Felt Z5 came standard with the 25's, and I just looked and my older Trek 1000 has a 25 on the front, and a 28 on the back.  The 28 on the back was because my old LBS supposedly didn't carry 25's, but it's a smaller local shop.  When the Trek's back tire wears down, a 25 is going on there too.

I never knew about that site until I read it here.  Long story short I have 2 gatorskins coming my way.  Great prices and It shipped out next day.  Thanks for the tip, got them saved for future needs as well.

Just ordered. Thanks for the heads up.  I usually order a set a year.  I'll keep these until fall since I just put on a new set in October.
