We have been batting around ideas for BT party/dinner the night before Cranberry. We live about 30 miles away just up 495 (takes about 40 minutes) and would like to invite you come to a late afternoon BBQ pre-race dinner at our home...maybe starting around 4pm.

We will post more information later, but hope you guys will consider it.

sounds like a good idea to me, I just think I will need to be gone no later than 7 for a good nights sleep. It is an A race and all this year, and I need to beat May and Max

Day Before Race Dinner:

Time to be determined but hoping starting 3:30ish...but will post more later.

In a couple of days I'll post time and details...waiting to hear about couple of things. We'll ask everyone to bring something to go with food....fruit, salad, bread, desert or whatever...we'll make pasta with homemade sause and something grilled probably chicken.

Spouses, SO, kids are all welcome.....we have 5 kids 7-17 so chaos is the norm.

If you plan on coming...please PM me your email address and phone numbers and how many you think will come...if you are a maybe it would be great to know that as well.

I'll send out directions and my phone numbers via email as I'd rather not post them.

If weather is good...we'll be in our back yard.

Race Day Party:

I emailed the RD and we can bring our own BBQ's or use their after they are done cooking the chicken. He didn't think we'd want more food so wondered why we thought this would be a good option.

So my question to everyone one is how are we going to coordinate this? Just have maybe 2 people bring BBQ's and everyone bring something to grill and something to share? Or do we want someone to buy all the grill stuff and chip in money and have everyone bring things to share?

So far we have 3 tents....

Anyone have a folding table or two?

Anyone have a grill they want to bring?

Everyone should bring chairs and plan on staying awhile after the race....no I'm tired and need to drive home...this is our big end of the year BT party!

Plus plan on bringing something to share....fruit, go withs, desert, May is bringing Cranberry Mikes, right?

ok, don't laugh, but my Honda CR-V has a folding table that covers the wheel well in the back of the car.  So, I bring a folding table everywhere I go

Thanks for getting things organized Kathy.

I can bring one or two gas grills (~12"x4"), a 3'x3' folding table, 4 folding chairs, and a cooler with water, gatorade, soda and some suds. If anyone wants me to bring or not bring anything listed above let me know.

I'm getting really excited now.

Cool we have someone bringing a grill!

Jorge just inspired me and said he'd jockstrap Cranberry. We might put him in charge of the grill while we are racing then

I will most certainly bring Mike's Cranberry, Lemonade, and whatever their 3rd flavor is. I believe there is another Gin and Tonic fan or two, like myself - and will try to bring some of that as well.

Any other Adult Beverage requests?

Great....grill, tables...cool!

What do you guys think about if we are going to grill more stuff...everyone bring stuff or someone buy a bunch of xxx and we all chip in?

For those of us with family coming it will be great that they will have a place to hang out and get drinks, snacks and the like while we race. An Oly can be a long time to stand around for them.

I like your idea Sue. Some personal stuff and some community stuff, that way you're guaranteed to find something you want to eat.

Great....everyone can bring something they want to grill.....if they want. All participants and volunteers get post-race BBQed chicken lunch.

Then bring something to share if you can.

Remember to bring chairs, drinks, and if you committed to bring other stuff great.

I am getting so excited. The one thing I have noticed is the adult beverage catigory. Last time I checked, Mass. still has issues with open containers in public, so induldge at your own risk. Plus the RD may have issues with glass containers. I would hate to see BT get a bad name at this race. If you have not notice, I am just a little parinoid about small things, so disregard this message if you wish

That is good thinking. I did plan on keeping my beverage in a plastic cup at the park and keeping the empty bottles in a trash bag. If glass is going to be an issue, we could go with plastic bottled suds, like Coors Light, but I would prefer to have a good beer not Coors Light.

I was thinking... is there anyone besides me who might be interested in contacting the photo company to take some team pics officaly instead of just with our own cameras?

Anybody bringing their kids to the race?  My son got the tri bug last week and is thinking of coming to Cranberry to spectate, but was wondering if he'd have somebody to hang out with during the race.

I will be there spectating and taking proud pictures of JP as he flashes his signature thumbs up sign. Hopefully I will be able to meet some of you beforehand and catch some pics while you transition! These tiny profile pictures don't allow for much face recognition!

I can attest that Ken takes awesome pictures. I think perhpas we should set a time as triathletes are hard to gather and someone will always be missing. Should we try both before and after or just after when we are all hot and sweaty and looking our best

We will bring some of our kids. Emily is an official volunteer...she will be doing body marking...so look for a cute Chinese girl...she is 5'2" so a young lady might be a better choice of words and have her mark you.  She normally works the finish line and gives out drinks or takes off timing chips.

Joanne, depending on the age of your son, he could volunteer...Emily is 11....or hang out with others with kids...my husband is coming and some of our other kids but not sure how many or who....Libby will be 8 then and Shasha is 10, doubt my 17 year old sons will come but they might as Kyle just did his first tri this month.

He's 9 and volunteered last week at Jorge's race handing out registration packets and later at a water stop.  He hung out with Max and DK.

OK.....my mom said we could bring a gas grill if we need another one.  Just let me know.  We are bringing potato salad (YUM)  and cheesy rice cakes...right now my favorite post race food.  They can bring the camper...and then we would have a whole kitchen

Email the RD and see if he can help out....they always need kids to hand out water/gatorade at the finish and take of timing chips. At registration they had the kids run pull the race bags when athletes checked in.....lots of help makes it easier. He would get a cool t-shirt and free lunch.

Life is busy...but official start of Saturday pre-race dinner at my house 3:30. Look for an email from me shortly with directions and more details. If you come later that is fine...we are starting early in case others want to leave early.

It takes about 30 minutes to drive from packet pick up to my house

Saturday's get together, if you'd like to bring something or a couple of things  we can use deserts, salad, and fruit and soda. We will have pasta, chicken, and homemade bread. Please bring outdoor chairs if you have any...type you'd bring to your kids soccer game if you can.

If you plan or attending or are a maybe, please PM me with how many of you will be attending, so I can get an estimate  count, and include your email address so I can be sure to send you directions. Currently I think there may be about 20+ folks attending...many maybes as plans aren't firmed up.

Sunday after the race: remember if you want to bring something to grill, we'll have grills. We are asking everyone to bring something to share. Bring outdoor chairs if you have them. No hurrying off to go home...fun BT time will continue for a long time!
