crowny2 - 2013-04-03 3:03 PM 2-0 and against the Royals.  Now before you go off saying, "yeah, but it is the Royals".  They have ALWAYS had our number.  We went 6-12 against them last year.  So I'm happy.  And our catcher (Flowers) has homered in both games.  That was our worry was his production versus AJ's production at the plate.  Only 160 more games till the perfect season.  Cool

Welcome to the temporarily division champs club. It sure is nice here.

I don't really have a team, but I'm interested to see how Harper and Trout progress this year.

I'm thinking this could be the Cubs year.

And back on planet Earth- I like the Rays in the AL East. Boston will be better than they're currently be given credit for. Yankees just too old an injured. AL Central KC will play second to Detroit. AL West it will be closer than people think but its the Angels in a close race with Seattle winning more than people think. NL its the Nats in the East, Dodgers in the West, and Maybe the Brewers in the Central if the Cubs falter. I like Dodgers to win it all.

As a Floridian, I hope the Rays are in it at the end. Toronto bought a nice roster though, and Baltimore isn't going to lie down or go away. However, if things go as they should, the Yanks and Sox will be fighting for last in that division. And everyone outside of the North East is happy.

As I see the AL East- The Blue Jays bought the core of a team that finished in last place in a less competitive division then where they are now. Orioles got too lucky last year and won too many 1 run games. They revert to the mean this year. Yankees are just too old. I think it will come down to Red Sox and Rays with the Rays winning by 2 games. Overall division races should be pretty close everywhere.

I agree with that, but at the same time it's just too much of a toss up.  They may all just beat up on eachother and we'll have 5 teams at 80-90 wins.  As a Sox fan obivously I'm biased, but I've always enjoyed seeing other teams rise up and make a run.  Getting to see the Rays 18 times a year for the last 8 years while they've climbed the ranks has been pretty cool to witness.  They went from a joke to a constant contender.  It seems like the Orioles are a few players away from being consistent, but if they can ride the mojo from last year that might be enough to stay with it.  I just can't see the Jays winning.  Maybe it's the jinx of the Marlins and the bad vibes that Loria sent north but I just can't see it happening.

I think its a good bet that Boston will be the most improved (increase in number of wins vs last year) team in the AL this year. The other side of that will be the Yankees. Somewhat tougher call in the NL. My guess is the Cubs by that same definition will be most improved. Its a tough call in the NL for worse off. Maybe the Cardinals...

I can see the O's going either way but my guess is they finish with a few wins less than last year but not a throw-away season.  The Jays I think will depend a lot on the manager and how he can bring together the team in the clubhouse.  As a Yankees fan I know what it's like to bring together a bunch of guys who are great on paper but never gel as a team.  If everyone is just out for their own stats it'll be a disappointing season.  My Yanks have been over-performing for a few years now and I think this'll finally be the year of reckoning for them.

The division beating up on each other is the unknown for me. You can see them all being about even with each other (9-9 or there about), so what they do with the rest of their schedule becomes important. I am glad the Rays added by subtraction with a couple of guys, most notably BJ. But at some point the Joe Madden routine will grow a bit wearisome. The O's squeezed by a bunch last year, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happens again. They come to play every night and never quit. Same as the Rays. I agree with Toronto though, on paper they have a nice roster started, but the proof is in the game. We'll know by the end of June what they really are.

I'm a native of Chicago's South Side, but I've always been a Cubs fan. Blame Jack Brickhouse and Lou Boudreau, I guess. So ... as ever, I'm expecting the Cubbies to finish dead last. If not worse.

Boudreau was a Cleveland Indian first... MVP of the World Series the last time the Tribe won the World Series... Sigh

Cleveland is looking decent.  I don't think they will contend but I'm glad to see that the ownership is finally spending the money to field a winning team.

Hey Sox fans - do you miss Francona yet?  I'd bet you'd take him back in a heartbeat.

Hey Sox fans - do you miss Francona yet?  I'd bet you'd take him back in a heartbeat.

Last year, hell yes.  Last year was one of the worst years of any franchise with the exception of years like when the Colts moved in the middle of the night or Malice at the Palace, or something along those lines.  The only saving grace the Sox had last year was being able to dump all that salary on the Dodgers.  Besides that though, Valentine was quite possibly the worst decision I have ever seen in my lifetime.  That includes the Lackey contract.  Valentine was a worse idea than Lackey.  100%.  He was strictly a name to be hired to put butts in the seats and it backfired big time. I don't think Farrell is going to the savior or anything, and he nor anyone else could have helped that team last year, but his familiarity with the players during a positive time in their careers (Pedroia, Lester, Buchholz, Ortiz, Ellsbury) that has to mean something to those guys, so if that's enough to get them off their a$$es and start winning then I'll take it.  I thought Tito was an awesome coach.  Hell, they won 2 WS with him, the guy will never have to pay for another drink in Boston for the rest of his life, but I do think he ran his course here, or rather the brass ran their course with him.

You know even when I was typing that I knew crowd was thw wrong word. Attendance I guess would have been the better choice.

How about Francona getting lost on a 2 block walk to his home opener. Oops.

So what say you, is Carlos Quentin a thug or was he justified? 140+ million on the bench for likely 6+ weeks. Ouch for the Dodgers.

2-1 game. 3-2 count. Late in the game. NO WAY its was intentional.

He said there is a history, but last time Greinke hit him was in 2009. Also, Quentin is the leader of HBP the last 2 years.

No rooting interest for either team, but seems to me Quentin did not like Greinke for whatever reason and is using this as an excuse to get to him. Did not see the beginning of the fight, but apparently Quentin began to walk towards the mount and Greinke mouthed off, so maybe some added incentive to charge.

I went to a baseball game once and a hockey game broke out!

I say suspend him until Greinke is back. There is no way he was trying to do it on purpose. Quentin also is known for taking the most HBP by a wide margin, led the league the last 2 years despite only playing 200 games total.

That's what I heard Don Mattingly suggested but most likely he'll get a 4-6 game suspension.
