Helllooooooooo...........

Is this thing on?

Froze my backside off yesterday at my first White Sox home opener.  It was worth it.

Sox are touted to finish 3rd in the AL Central.  I think that is generous but who knows.

And the Astros have a smaller payroll than A-Rod's salary.  Oofff.

So how does your team look this year?

I'm a native of Chicago's South Side, but I've always been a Cubs fan. Blame Jack Brickhouse and Lou Boudreau, I guess. So ... as ever, I'm expecting the Cubbies to finish dead last. If not worse.

I'm also a naturalized New Englander, and it looks like any dynastic notions the Red Sox entertained have long since evaporated. Looks like both the Sox and the cobbled-together Yankees will be looking up at the Rays and Jays this season.

*sigh*

I'm a World Champion Giants fan, so the last few years have been glorious. I think my boys will be back in it again this year.

Bryce Harper is an animal and will be fun to watch, same with Trout.

Yesterday I watched the Rockies middle relief give up the lead just like they did in most games last year, it ruined a good performance by Chacin, the starter.  Unless they pick up some better middle relievers 2013 will be another 90-100 loss season.

My Brewers sent the home crowd home happy yesterday, a not insignificant achievement on an Opening Day that never got above freezing temp.

Besides, as the old saying goes... you can't win 162 if you don't win the first.

I think the O's had their miracle season last year and its back to the cellar this year. They were unbeatable last year in extra-inning and one-run games and I wouldn't expect them to manage that two years in a row. So this season I'll mostly be alternating between rooting for whoever the Yankees are playing and being grateful I'm not a Mets fan.

RIght now the M's are on pace for 162-0 without allowing a single run. Same for King Felix, which I assume is good enough for him to win the Cy. Book it.

I'm thinking this could be the Cubs year.

And back on planet Earth- I like the Rays in the AL East. Boston will be better than they're currently be given credit for. Yankees just too old an injured. AL Central KC will play second to Detroit. AL West it will be closer than people think but its the Angels in a close race with Seattle winning more than people think. NL its the Nats in the East, Dodgers in the West, and Maybe the Brewers in the Central if the Cubs falter. I like Dodgers to win it all.

Reds started off on a bit of a sour note, but with opening series against the Angels and Nationals, I figured it may be a rough first 10 days or so.

Not looking good for the hometown 9. Probably finish at the bottom of the AL central with close to 100 losses. They can't pitch and can barely hit. Those two things usually don't go well together. I expect the team to trade Morneau at sometime to cut payroll.

How about that Yu guy last night.

Sucks that it was bottom of the 9th with 2 outs and a perfect game/no hitter gets blown.......

Rangers win World Series.

Take THAT to the bank!

After beating a team whose payroll is less than A-Rod's salary?  You must be so proud.  Wait, you lost to them in the season opener.  Never mind.

I'm a Reds fan (grew up in Ohio moved to TX to go to A&M and stayed here).  After almost 20 years of futility it looks like teh Reds have a legitimate shot this year.

It's weird that 2 of my teams (Reds and Aggies) are getting buzz.  At least my Clowns, er, Browns are not dissapointing me this year by looking like a contender.

I'm sorry, sitting up here as the sole 2-0 team in the league, I can't hear what you lowly .500 teams say.

Sox fan here too.  Born and raised in and around Boston, now live a few miles further north.  I can't tell with this team yet, not that anyone really can.  I love the infusion of youth though with Bradley starting in the bigs and Middlebrooks hopefully healthy, but I'm with holding optimism on him because wrist injuries for power hitting infielders has to be the worst injury to play through.  CC pitched like total crap, Sox should have won by a dozen in the opener, but I think with the Yanks being down, the O's coming off a miracle, the Rays kind of treading water and the Jays dealing with all their new players, it's a wide open division which is something to be said for the AL East seeing as it's been boring as can be for the last dozen years with the exception of last year.

2-0 and against the Royals.  Now before you go off saying, "yeah, but it is the Royals".  They have ALWAYS had our number.  We went 6-12 against them last year.  So I'm happy.  And our catcher (Flowers) has homered in both games.  That was our worry was his production versus AJ's production at the plate.  Only 160 more games till the perfect season.  Cool
