Make note that the race director changed the bike course, at least for the half and full, just recently. The new bike map is on the website. Unfortunately, none of the hills were removed - it was just made an out and back.
Here is a report from a buddy that rode the course yesterday. This is for the half, if you are doing the full its this x2:
It was a good ride… very challenging, but good for the strong hill climber. Here is my best take on the course:
Leg 1 (From the park to 71 south on 281) 6 miles
Get ready,.. 2 mile climb out of the park starting at 700 feet elevation and rises to 970 in the first 2 miles. But then comes back down on the 2nd half of this first leg, then a right hand turn on 71
Leg 2 (East on 71) 13 miles
More rolling hills, several of these hills are challenging, just get ready to sit in the saddle and grind them out, after the turn around you will come back approx 2-3 miles and turn right on 962
Leg 3 (Turn right at 962) 10 miles
This leg took us almost 50 minutes to ride, grueling constant uphill , one after another. We did have about 20 MPH winds, but the course was also upgrade hill. This was the peak of the 1575 feet elevation at this point. The first 2 thirds of the is rolling uphills, the last 3rd of this leg was pretty quick. You can make up some time there.
Leg 4 (From the end of 962 back to 71) 10 miles
You are going to love this leg, Regroup on your legs, stretch them out and get ready for a fast leg. You can power through this leg and feel pretty strong.
Leg 5 (Turn right on 71 and back to )
Right turn and back to the uphills, this leg will have 5-6 major uphills that will cause you to question your sanity. They climb and climb, but it is suited for the strong hill climber.
Leg 6 (From 71 back to the park) 6 miles
Only 2 up hills left, but you can power through both of them. This leg is mostly pretty fast, stay on your big ring and use upper legs, I stood up and powered through both hills and made it fine. (I knew that I had at least a 8 minute fast downhill break) the last part of this leg is the top of the hill with the great view and a very fast downhill for 2+ miles (Speeds up to high 30’s easily.
