Pre-race routine:

Didn't eat too much -- I need to remember to not eat very much for a late-afternoon race (started at 6pm), and not to eat anything at all for the three-four hours before a race.

Comments:

Well, I'll be damned. I got first in my age group! Luckily, there weren't very many people in my age group -- If I had been in the age group one above mine, I would have got third place with my time, and in the group above THAT, I wouldn't even have placed.

There was no way in hell that I could have reached my goal of a sub-20 minute 5K on this course -- serious hills, and where the hills weren't frightening, they were merely rolling and challenging. So this was the best I could do on this course, which really favored the 100 pound 14 year old boys with a 1:10 testosterone to body weight ratio.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster.

Congrats on the hardware!! I see you're doing Millersport next week...I was a spectator last year, so if you've any words of wisdom, I'm listening. Good luck and keep up the good work!
